Suffolk Law enrolled its first cohort of Hybrid Juris Doctor (HJD) students this fall. The innovative program offers a small, select group of accomplished students the opportunity to complete their entire upper-level coursework online after successfully completing their first year of study in a traditional in-person format.
The program is the first of its kind in the nation to enable students to take all classes online after an in-person first year of instruction.
The Law School retained the traditional in-person format for the first year to encourage interactions with faculty and students, and to ensure that students could thrive in a law school environment. Hybrid JD students then have the opportunity to complete as much of their remaining JD online as they wish, enabling them to live closer to home, pursue employment opportunities elsewhere, or potentially reduce their living and commuting expenses.
