Veterinarian
Veterinary Dental Clinic of North Carolina
Durham, NC
Dr. Stiles is excited to be part of the Veterinary Dental Clinic of North Carolina team. In 2002, Dr. Stiles graduated from North America’s oldest continuously running veterinary school, the Ontario Veterinary College. After being in private practice for a short period of time, he decided to pursue additional training. His aptitude for dentistry was strong, and he was accepted into a residency program to continue his dentistry training full-time.
After completing his Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery Residency at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia in 2006, Dr. Stiles became a Board Certified Veterinary Dentist™ in 2009. He has experience as an Assistant Professor at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine and brings a love of teaching with him. From tooth extractions and endodontics to extensive oral surgery for fracture stabilization and oral mass removals, Dr. Stiles enjoys helping feline and canine patients with their oral issues.
Dr. Stiles lives with his wife, three children, three dogs, and three cats. He enjoys cooking, gardening, and camping.
Jessica Johnson, DVM, DAVDC
Dr. Johnson was raised in Southlake, Texas. She graduated from Texas A&M's College of Veterinary Medicine with honors in 2008. She spent the first decade of her career in small animal general practice where she gained experience in small animal day practice, emergency practice, and relief.Following her passion for dentistry, Dr. Johnson completed a dental residency with Dr. Heidi Lobprise, DVM, DAVDC in 2020. As a resident, she published original research in the Journal of Veterinary Dentistry titled: Characterization and Classification of Keratinized Odontogenic Cysts in 29 Dogs. In 2022, she joined the American Veterinary Dental College as a Board Certified Veterinary Dentist.Dr. Johnson is committed to providing evidence-based, high-quality care to the dogs and cats of North Texas. It is important to her to examine each case individually, understanding that many patients have multiple health problems, but they are often still able to safely receive necessary procedures to alleviate pain and infection. Her goal is to examine her patient, assess their health, and work with pet owners to determine the best treatment plan. Dr. Johnson is passionate about dental education for both clients and veterinarians. She leads the Dental Fundamentals lecture series for veterinarians in general practice who want to learn more about practicing veterinary dentistry and improve their proficiency.Dr. Johnson has three children and one rambunctious shepherd-mix named Biscuit.

Curt Ritchie, DVM, DAVDC
Curt Ritchie DVM, DAVDC is a 1996 graduate of the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine.
He practiced mixed animal medicine for the first five years of his career. In December of 2000, he and his wife, Jennifer, purchased the Perkins Road Veterinary Hospital, concentrating on small animal medicine and surgery only.
After fifteen years of general practice, Dr. Ritchie realized how little he knew about dentistry and oral surgery. After attending dozens of dentistry CE programs and wet labs, he decided to start his residency program through the American Veterinary Dental College. In 2019, he became the only AVDC Board Certified Veterinary Dentist in Louisiana. Dr. Ritchie exclusively practices dentistry and oral surgery at his hospital four days a week.
Dr. Ritchie is an avid sports fan and follows everything that wears LSU purple and gold. He is a trail runner and enjoys competing in ultra-marathons, fishing, traveling out west to hike and run in the mountains, and golfing. His wife is also a LSU School of Veterinary Medicine graduate and an instructor at LSU.
