Teaming up to launch the Consortium is the latest in Target’s ongoing efforts to eliminate, reduce and find alternatives for plastic in our products, packaging and operations.
Check out more of the ways we’re making progress below.
As a member of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation taking part in the New Plastics Economy initiative, we’re working alongside more than 400 organizations to change how we produce, use and reuse plastic. We’ve committed to working toward 20% post-consumer recycled content in our owned-brand packaging by 2025.
We’ve made updates so our current plastic retail bags are made of 40% recycled content. Plus, guests can recycle single-use plastic at our convenient in-store recycling kiosks. We also offer reusable bags at all of our stores, along with a five-cent discount for each reusable bag used at checkout.
Other in-store recycling efforts include our car seat trade-in program where guests can bring in unwanted car seats for recycling and, in exchange, get deals on new baby gear.
