Common red flags for email scams:
An email address that is from an unknown sender.
A generic greeting (versus addressed personally to you) is used.
The email includes spelling or grammatical errors, awkward or unusual phrasing and outdated or overly formal salutations.
A link to a malicious website that looks as if it links off to somewhere safe. This may include a URL that is shortened, making it more difficult to determine if the site is legitimate or hyperlinked text to hide the malicious link.
Soliciting sensitive information such as passwords, bank account, credit card or social security numbers.
