Peter L. Miller is president and chief executive officer of The Institutes and a member of The Institutes’ Senior Management Team. He chairs the Board of Directors for The Institutes CPCU Society, The Institutes Griffith Insurance Education Foundation, The International Insurance Society, Insurance Information Institute, Black Insurance Industry Collective, Catastrophe Resiliency Council, The Institutes RiskStream Collaborative, and The Insurance Accounting and Systems Association as well as serves ex-officio as a member of The Institutes’ Board of Trustees.
Miller is a graduate of Colorado State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a minor in economics, and a master’s degree in systems management. He also holds an MBA from Villanova University and has done extensive PhD-level work in computer information systems. Miller holds the CPCU designation from The Institutes. In addition, he chairs the Institute for Global Insurance Education (IGIE).

Robert Haracz is senior vice president and chief information officer of The Institutes and a member of its Senior Management Team. He is responsible for the strategic and operational functions of information technology, marketing, business intelligence, and business development for the Enterprise of The Institutes.
Haracz graduated summa cum laude from Drexel University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry, was a GAANN (Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need) Fellowship winner in attendance at the University of Pennsylvania, and earned a master's degree in information science from The Pennsylvania State University. He holds the CPCU designation from The Institutes.

Katherine Horowitz is executive vice president and head of business units for The Institutes and a member of its Senior Management Team. Horowitz is responsible for leading various business units and departments. The business units she oversees include: Agent & Broker Group, Claims Litigation Management, Claims Pages, CPCU Society, Griffith Insurance Education Foundation, Insurance Information Institute, International Insurance Society, Insurance Research Council, Pacific Insurance Conference, Risk & Insurance Group, and The Insurance Accounting and Systems Association.
Additionally, Horowitz oversees Partnerships, Events, and enterprise mergers and acquisitions, as well as, focuses on integrating acquisitions and affiliations. She serves on the Board of Directors for The Institutes CPCU Society, The Institutes Griffith Insurance Education Foundation, The International Insurance Society, Insurance Information Institute, Black Insurance Industry Collective, Catastrophe Resiliency Council, The Institutes RiskStream Collaborative, and The Insurance Accounting and Systems Association.
Prior to joining The Institutes in 2008, she worked in Human Resources at Susquehanna International Group (SIG), a global investment and trading firm. Horowitz holds a bachelor’s degree from Neumann University, where she graduated summa cum laude. She also holds a master’s degree in strategic management and executive leadership from Penn State University.

As President of The Institutes Knowledge Group, Adam Carmichael, CPCU, leads the strategic development and delivery of courses and exams for risk management and insurance designation programs. He oversees new course creation to ensure The Institutes’ education aligns with evolving professional development needs.
With more than 25 years at The Institutes, Carmichael has held leadership roles in assessments, market research, and the Insurance Research Council. He holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Delaware. He is also a member of the CPCU Society.

As president of the Agent & Broker Group at The Institutes, Fausnacht champions, develops, implements, and communicates the strategic direction of the Group to the team and customers. With a focus on building relationships, he is the primary liaison with the Insurance Broker Advisory Board. He also oversees The Institutes’ Compliance (CEU) department and leads the client-relationship management efforts by serving as chief advocate for insurance brokers.
Fausnacht joined The Institutes in 2017 as director of Business Development where he led the growth initiative with the Agent & Broker community. He partnered with the top 100 insurance brokers to deliver knowledge development solutions and advised The Institutes on the learning needs of the modern insurance broker.
Before joining The Institutes, Fausnacht served as vice president of Business Development at the Willis Group where he discovered his passion for developing talent. Prior to that, Fausnacht worked in Business Development at Rolls-Royce covering Asia and the Middle East. Fausnacht earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

Kim Nicholl-Keane serves as the Executive Director of IASA, where she leads the organization’s business operations and provides strategic support to national committees, including the IASA Advisory Board. She began her work with IASA when the organization affiliated with The Institutes in October 2023.
Before joining IASA, Kim was the Deputy Executive Director of The Institutes CPCU Society, a global community of property and casualty insurance professionals. She also spent 15 years as a consultant helping associations develop education programs, grow membership, and improve engagement.
Kim holds a master’s degree in Education from the Pennsylvania State University and is both a Certified Association Executive (CAE) and Certified Meeting Professional (CMP). She lives with her family in West Chester, Pennsylvania.

Lynde O’Brien is the Executive Director (formerly Chief Operating Officer) of InsuranceAUM.com, the newest acquisition of The Institutes. Lynde is a results-focused executive with 25 years of experience in Digital Marketing and Communications, Marketing Operations, and Customer Experience in the Health Insurance and Insurance Asset Management industries. She excels at building, mentoring, and growing cross-functional business teams and brings extensive, award-winning experience designing, developing, and implementing B2C and B2B marketing programs and technology capabilities.
Lynde earned her B.S. in Social Science from University of California, Berkeley, She has a 6-Sigma Blackbelt from GE, Executive Leadership and Digital Marketing Strategies, Data, Automation, and AI certificates from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management. She is also a graduate of the Deloitte University, CMO Academy.
Lynde is an avid traveler, tennis player, yogini, and amateur School of Rock musician.

Patrick G. Schmid, Ph.D. joined the Insurance Information Institute (Triple-I) as Chief Insurance Officer and President of the Insurance Research Council (IRC) in July 2025. In this expanded role, he leads much of Triple-I and IRC’s research initiatives while continuing to serve as President of The Institutes’ RiskStream Collaborative—an industry consortium focused on blockchain, AI, and emerging technologies for risk management and insurance.
Dr. Schmid worked closely with The Institutes to coordinate RiskStream for the past eight years, overseeing the consortium’s membership and spearheading technology projects aimed at optimizing multiparty business processes across the insurance value chain. He was recognized with the International Insurance Society’s 2018 Leaders of Tomorrow Award for his forward-looking leadership.
Previously, Dr. Schmid headed The Institutes’ Enterprise Research department, where he led teams of data architects and researchers in developing analytical solutions and generating market insights. He also served as Director of Research for the IRC, where he conducted and published research on public policy issues impacting insurance and presented findings to regulatory bodies. He holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from Temple University and has taught economics, finance, and business courses on emerging technologies at several institutions, including the Wharton School, Temple University, Saint Joseph’s University, Albright College, and Drexel University. Before entering the insurance industry, he worked as an economist at Moody’s Analytics and blogged on monetary policy and Federal Reserve actions.

Sean Kevelighan has been Chief Executive Officer of the Insurance Information Institute (Triple-I) since 2016, bringing more than 25 years of experience in public affairs, communications, and economic policy. Previously, he was Group Head of Public Affairs for Zurich Insurance Group and led strategic communications for Citigroup’s Global Consumer Banking business.
In government, Sean served in senior roles during the George W. Bush administration, including spokesperson at the U.S. Treasury, Senior Advisor in the Office of Tax Policy, and Press Secretary for the White House Office of Management and Budget. Earlier, he advised Fortune 100 clients at Edelman and Hill & Knowlton.

As President of Associations at The Institutes and Executive Director of The Institutes CPCU Society, Spenser Villwock grows the value proposition, educational programs, and leadership opportunities that set apart leading professionals in the risk management and insurance sector. He recently guided the 8 decade-old professional organization to recalibrate its business strategy, thereby expanding the CPCU Society’s ability to empower and elevate risk management and insurance professionals across the globe. Prior to joining The Institutes in 2021, Villwock led purpose- and mission-driven organizations to achieve greater outcomes over the last two decades. His experience has spanned the United States and beyond, covering time spent in Iowa, Oregon, Japan, Maryland, Colorado, and Washington, D.C. Villwock earned a master’s degree in Non-Profit Management from Notre Dame of Maryland University, a master’s degree in business administration degree (MBA) from Western Governors University, and a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University. He is also an alumnus of the Harvard University Nonprofit Executive Leadership program and 1 of only 400 people worldwide to hold both a U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute of Management designation and the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Certified Association Executive credential. Villwock also holds an industry Artificial Intelligence (AI) certification, the Association AI Professional (AAiP), credentialed by Sidecar AI. An energetic and innovative leader, marketer, and communicator, Susan Wisbey-Smith has worked much of her professional career in property/casualty insurance starting with her first job in communications at a medical malpractice carrier where she spent 10 years guiding internal and external communications, marketing, and investor relations activities. Today, she is proud to serve the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) community as President.
Susan joined The Institutes in 2018 through the acquisition of CLM where she had served in a senior leadership role for nearly 10 years. Susan has previously held the position of Chief Communications Officer for Business Insurance magazine for two years. At Business Insurance, Wisbey-Smith oversaw audience development, event marketing, and operations. She has also previously provided marketing counsel to various academic medical centers, Spencer Educational Foundation, and the American Insurance Association.
Susan earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism and communication studies from the University of Iowa. She’s a passionate gardener and an avid cyclist who loves the challenge of a nice hill climb.

As president of Insurance Thought Leadership (ITL) and Head of Strategic Partnerships at The Institutes, Peter Howard oversees the operational performance and strategic alignment of three business units: Insurance Thought Leadership (ITL), the International Insurance Society (IIS), and InsuranceAUM.com (IAUM). Howard partners with each business unit’s leader to drive growth, efficiency, and consistency. He also manages the enterprise-wide partnerships and event teams.
Before joining The Institutes, Howard worked in sales, marketing, and business development in the publishing industry, cultivating expertise in both traditional and digital publishing operations. Most recently, he worked as a national sales manager and member of the Strategic Partnerships team at Patch Media, a national digital publisher and member of the Verizon/AOL family of brands, based in New York City. In this role, Howard fostered relationships with nationally recognized brands and media agencies interested in large-scale advertising opportunities or custom strategic partnerships.
Howard earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, with a concentration in literature and linguistics. As an avid musician, he supports not-for-profit organizations dedicated to spreading music and arts education to children, such as the Academy of Music Performance.

Frank Paul Tomasello, J.D., is Executive Director of The Institutes Griffith Insurance Education Foundation (“The Institutes Griffith Foundation”), a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, non-advocative organization that provides objective and non-partisan insurance education to public policymakers. He oversees the work of this affiliate of The Institutes and is responsible for advancing strategic plans, serving as a liaison to the Board of Directors and Advisory Council, and interacting with both internal and external stakeholders to further The Institutes Griffith Foundation’s mission.
Prior to joining The Institutes Griffith Foundation in 2014, he held leadership roles at the American Law Institute-American Bar Association Committee on Continuing Professional Education (now known as ALI-CLE), a non-profit organization dedicated to educating lawyers.
Tomasello was educated at Duquesne University School of Law. There he served as a member of the Duquesne Law Review and received the “CALI Excellence for The Future Award” for his achievements in the study of advanced legal research and writing. He practiced law in his native Pittsburgh before transitioning to a career in the non-profit realm.

Joshua Landau is a seasoned Banking and Insurance Industry executive that currently serves as Senior Vice President, Head of Industry Verticals and International Corporate Banking for Fifth Third Bank, National Association, and is the President of the International Insurance Society and the Pacific Insurance Conference.Before joining Fifth Third, Josh spearheaded FIG relationship banking in the US and provided global coverage for clients as head of the Financial Institutions Group - America at Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd. (ANZ), and had also served as the Global Head of the Insurance industry sector. Josh also has deep experience as an Insurance Industry risk officer, private equity investor, and M&A specialist in the global insurance sector, having started his career at Chemical Bank (now JP Morgan Chase), and working with BNP Paribas, UBS, and Firemark Investments in various roles over the past 25 years.Josh has an MBA in Finance from NYU's Stern School of Business, and a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Management Information Systems from the University at Albany. Colleen McKenna Tucker is the Executive Director of the International Insurance Society (IIS), a global nonprofit advancing a dynamic insurance marketplace that strengthens societal resilience. She leads IIS’s mission to develop talent, recognize excellence, and drive collaborative thought leadership across the insurance ecosystem.
With 30+ years of experience in risk management and insurance, Colleen has strengthened IIS’s role as a policy-neutral platform bringing together insurers, regulators, academics, and policymakers to address industry challenges and promote innovation. Under her leadership, IIS has launched and expanded key programs—including global research studies, industry awards, mentorship initiatives, and executive education offerings.
Before joining IIS, Colleen held management roles at Mutual of America Life Insurance, leading communications and client engagement, and at Phoenix Home Life Insurance, where she began her career overseeing high-touch customer service during a period of industry turbulence, helping stabilize client relationships and strengthen retention.
Colleen is also active in governance and civic service, serving on the Board of Trustees for the Milliman Variable Insurance Trust (since 2021), chairing the Citizen Review Board for Hudson County DYFS (where she has served since 2004), and leading the Board Development Committee for New Jersey’s Child Placement Advisory Council, to which she was appointed in 2020.
