SEASIDE IS FOR FUN
Rekindle that spark, no matter your age. Whether you’re looking for sandcastle making, ancient forest hiking, sunset picnicking, bumper car carring or all of the above, you can do it in Seaside! Find out what more fun awaits.
One of the oldest aquariums on the West Coast, the Seaside Aquarium has been in operation on Seaside’s Promenade since 1937. Before that, though, the building was known as Seaside Baths Natatorium, housing a saltwater bath house and swimming pool. Today it is home to Seaside’s famous seals who have been entertaining visitors for more than 80 years, and also features live displays of Northwest marine life and a hands-on discovery center for kids. For more family fun, visit High Life Adventure Park or Captain Kid Amusement Park for mini-golf, go-karts, rock climbing and more.
STROLL AND SHOP
Peruse downtown’s streets for dozens of specialty shops, galleries and boutiques with a distinctly coastal flair. Seaside Carousel Mall is a great stop with shops offering almost anything you could hope to find, so souvenir shopping (for you or others on your list) is a breeze. Or visit the oldest part of Seaside, the Gilbert District, for home decorating boutiques, apparel stores, art galleries and antique mall.
TAKE A HIKE
Hikers are in luck with the lush Northwest rainforest just minutes from Seaside. Explore Tillamook Head National Recreation Trail, which follows the western edge of the headland to Ecola State Park, site of the breathtaking, thousand-foot cliff of Tillamook Head. Other nearby hikes for intrepid adventurers include the Fort to Sea Trail from Fort Clatsop, Saddle Mountain in the Coast Range and Oswald West State Park south of Seaside.
SEA THE SEASIDE
Get out on the beach! Whether it’s to try spotting Tillamook Rock Lighthouse from the Prom or sand, participating in a beach run or catching some wind for kite-flying, there’s plenty to see and experience in Seaside’s beaches.
EAT IN SEASIDE
Located along the North Coast Food Trail, Seaside is home to a flourishing, eclectic dining scene. Along with classic seafood fare, foodies have plenty to choose from including Dough Dough Bakery, Maggie’s on the Prom, Seaside Brewing, Sea Star Gelato and Osprey Café —all spots with an eye on local ingredients and sustainability.
COFFEE FOR CLEAN BEACHES
Enjoy the beaches of Seaside and have a hand in keeping them clean, too! Just stop by the Seaside Aquarium to pick up some free beach cleanup bags and gloves before you hit the sand. Once there, gather any debris you see until your bags are full and drop them off by any garbage on the Promenade. Make sure to snap a selfie of you and your handiwork. Once you show it off at the Seaside Welcome Center, you’ll receive your Beach Cleanup Coins — each person who removes at least one bag of trash from the beach gets $5 in cleanup coins to be redeemed for coffee or treats at participating locations.
ENJOY THE NIGHTLIFE
The fun doesn’t have to end after sundown. Visit one of the many pubs around town for a late-night drink, pool, shuffleboard or, for those unafraid to take the spotlight, karaoke with friends. For a more quiet time, an evening stroll taking in the town is a great way to end the night.
IT'S WHEEL FUN
There are many ways to explore and get around town! Test your teamwork skills on a Surrey Cycle session around town or, for those itching to get out on the water, on paddle bikes, swan boats, four-peddler boats, kayaks and SUP boards.
