Eva recently moved to Seattle from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is blown away by all the recreation options within easy driving distance of her Queen Anne condo. She’s been hiking at Mount Rainier and Hurricane Ridge. Learned to snowboard at Mount Baker. Explored lava tubes at Ape Cave near Mount St. Helens. And is planning to take her new prized possession – a gleaming yellow kayak – for its inaugural dip at Mount Hood.

Eva was excited for her new kayak to arrive
Eva was giddy the day her new kayak was delivered, but excitement quickly turned to disappointment when she realized it was too big for the subcompact car she’d been driving since college, even with the roof rack she’d had installed for her big move to Seattle.
Plus, there was all the new camping gear, and Rudy, the large, shaggy dog she’d adopted after a few rooftop parties with her neighbors convinced her that having a big dog in the city was totally doable. It was time to consider a bigger vehicle.

Eva did some research online, and found that a small SUV with a roof rack would offer the transport space she needed while still being nimble enough to navigate and park in the city. Her research also sparked her interest in auto consignment, which seemed like an efficient way to find a new home for her first car and move on to an affordable upgrade. A few clicks and she was ready to test drive a few SUVs with Rudy.
Eva’s first kayak excursion made a big splash!
During her inaugural paddle, she saw an eagle snatch a fish and she watched Rudy enjoy his first swim in the lake. They ended the day at a peaceful campsite in the woods.
"Traditionally, you had two options for selling your vehicle – to a dealership, for less money; or deal with the hassles of selling it on your own privately. Car consignment gives you a third option, where you can get the real value for your vehicle without the hassles of dealing with strangers.”
At an elevation of 5,242 feet, Hurricane Ridge is a year-round destination for hiking, skiing and snowboarding.
Ape Cave is the third-longest lava tube (2.5 miles long) in North America.
In 2019, there were more dogs (roughly 150,000) than children in Seattle.
