You know what you need in your life? A Hampshire staycation for two. Honestly, who doesn’t? Right now, Bombay Sapphire is giving you the chance to whisk yourself (and a special someone) off into the sunset for a two-night stay in gorgeous Hampshire. And the best bit: a guided tour of the Bombay Sapphire Distillery and private masterclass with a Bombay Sapphire ambassador. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience for any gin-lover; and what’s more, you’ll get to stay in a luxury hotel and have £150 towards travel expenses and £150 spending money. When it’s time to head home, you’ll get to keep the good times coming with a Bombay Sapphire Sunset Hamper. It includes one bottle of the brand new, special edition Bombay Sapphire Sunset, plus two balloon glasses, two bottles of Fever-Tree Tonic, two bottles of Fever-Tree Ginger Ale, one Martini Rosso, one Martini Riserva Speciale Bitter and fresh fruit garnishes. Now that’s a prize worth entering for.
And how do you enter? Simple. Just share your own sunset staycation snaps on Instagram or Twitter and capture that golden hour glow, using the hashtag #BombaySunset and following @timeoutlondon and @bombaysapphireuk (Instagram) or @bombaysapphire (Twitter). Easy as that. Cheers!

You’ll want to maximise your time in the setting sun. Open the window wide, get out in the garden, cut the bushes back. Just think of that vitamin D, too. This is good for you!

Maybe you want some Balearic vibes to put you on a beach in Ibiza, maybe you prefer some chill hip-hop. Maybe you’re into classical? Doesn’t matter. Just line it up.

Sunsets can be romantic. They can be great to share with friends. But you know what? They’re great for a little bit of ‘me time’, too. Just lock the door. Let’s not get interrupted now.

Sure, you’ll be too busy revelling in that lush amber glow thinking how nice life is but something on the side might be nice? Strawberries dipped in dark chocolate, Pringles, whatever’s your poison.
Have a little snack or two

You know where this is going, right? Sure you do. The perfect sundowner, made with Bombay Sapphire Sunset, a premium tonic, an orange wheel and some star anise. Dreamy.

To be honest, you could pitch up anywhere in The New Forest and be treated to a glorious vista but if you want our recommendations?
Hit Hatchet Pond for a beautiful sunset picnic, and then, if you're brave, a bit of wild swimming amongst the ponies in Brockenhurst, making sure you also check out The Buttery, a
cute-as-can-be tearoom with exceptional cakes.

The Scottish capital is built on seven hills, so it’s no surprise that you’ve got a number of choices when it comes to picturesque vantage points in the city. Amazing views across the Firth of Forth are the reward for a hike up Arthur’s Seat in Holyrood Park, while a climb up the cobbled streets of Castlehill to Edinburgh Castle transports you back and time (and to the summit of the Old Town).

The north Wales coastline rivals most locations when it comes to historic panoramas. The medieval Caernarfon Castle has guaranteed unique sunsets out across Anglesey for more than 700 years, while the pedestrian-only Conwy Suspension Bridge is worth a visit for the great views of the neighbouring Conwy Castle at sundown. The small Llyn Peninsula fishing village is the dictionary definition of remote, and the sunsets across the Irish Sea on a clear day are out of this world.

Height is your friend if you want to get a good spot for watching the sunset in the capital. The Shard’s viewing platform is an obvious choice – what with it being the city’s tallest building – while the summit of Primrose Hill is a great location to watch the sun go down on London’s iconic skyline. The Sky Garden is the perfect way to get high for free at weekends, too. Not great with heights? Time your Uber Boat by Thames Clippers trip to perfection and you could end up with a sunset river cruise included in the price of your ticket.

Newcastle and its surrounding area isn’t short of spots to watch a stunning sunset, but there are a select few that are well worth a visit. If there’s no fog on the Tyne, then make a beeline for Gateshead Millennium Bridge and views downriver towards the city’s iconic arched bridge. Want to escape the city? Whitley Bay is the place to go. Head for a sunset stroll out to St Mary’s Lighthouse.

The northwest’s one-time maritime hub is blessed with amazing vistas across the Mersey and Irish Sea. For the ultimate panoramic views, Radio City Tower’s viewing platform is unparalleled, and you can even see as far as Snowdonia on a clear day. Back on solid ground, The Albert Docks and its many bars make for a brilliant backdrop come sundown, while Everton Park offers the chance to see Liverpool lit up in all its glory. Fancy heading further afield for a unique sunset? Standing alongside one of 100 cast iron figures that make up Antony Gormley’s Another Place on Crosby Beach as the sun disappears over the Irish Sea will definitely live long in the memory.

The Lake District isn’t short of epic spots to watch the sun set, but few beat these picks. The views from Warnscale Bothy out across Buttermere are well worth the 90-minute hike to get there (but don’t forget the return journey if the four-person bothy is full for the night), while there’s the climb to Orrest Head from Windermere if you’re after something slightly less taxing. Alternatively, drive to the summit of Kirkstone Pass to watch the sun go down on the nearby Ambleside.

Canalside spots, grassy hilltops and rooftop snapshots – Manchester really does have it all when it comes to watching the sunset. For water-side views of the day’s last rays glistening off of the Manchester Ship Canal, the bustling docks of Salford Quays are the destination of choice. The summit of Werneth Low guarantees views of Manchester to the west and the Peak District to the east.

Home to a long stretch of the dramatic Jurassic coast, you simply have to head to the sea and prepare to be awed by some amazing scenery come nightfall in Dorset. Swanky Sandbanks is home to some golden sunsets across Poole Harbour, while you can watch sundown with the sand between your toes and a drink in your hand on the beach at Weymouth Harbour. For the ultimate Jurassic coast views, Durdle Door’s iconic stone arch is a must but if you’re not near the coast? Don’t panic – Shaftesbury and the cobbled streets of Gold Hill make for a real picture come dusk.

The sun setting over Clevedon Pier is a real thing of beauty but don’t just head to Clevedon for that famous dusk vista – this charming Victorian coastal town is rich with awesome things to do, from watersport fun at the Marine Lake to walks, bike routes and the majestic manor house, Cleveden Court. You’ll already know all about the mesmerising views at Cheddar Gorge (still go, though), but beeline for Bristol and marvel at the Clifton Suspension Bridge (an Isambard Kingdom Brunel masterpiece).

Sure, the spires of Oxford are glorious but if you’ve not seen them at sunset from South Park on Headington Hill? You’re in for a treat. An alternative? Head up Carfax Tower in the heart of the city for equally captivating stunners from the top of this 12th-century building. And if you’re really flush? Dinner at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons – Raymond Blanc’s exceptional restaurant and hotel in Great Milton.

Here goes one of our very finest tips: pack a tent and a sleeping bag and head to Devil’s Dyke on the South Downs in Sussex, making sure you explore the Seven Sisters Country Park while you’re in the area. Because lush landscapes and sunsets don’t come much better than here. And of course you’re not far from Brighton (party time!) but if you want to enjoy some really very good indeed seafood then hit The Crab Shack in Worthing where you can get stuck into high-quality beachside grub with – you guessed it – exceptional sunset views.

It doesn’t even matter if there’s no show on because the Minack Theatre, cut into the cliffs of Porthcumo, Penzance, is a beauty to behold. Surely it should be in Ancient Greece? Watching an evening show here with the sun setting into the tumbling Atlantic Ocean is euphoric. We also really like Tintagel for some Arthurian legend-type stuff (the castle is brilliant; the bridge to get to it even better) and the surfing town of Bude up the coast, but of course we can’t not recommend Port Isaac – you know, the village from ‘Doc Martin’, where it’s always sunny.

You want picture perfect yellowstone Cotswolds? Then Broadway is an excellent shout, with its antiques markets, fancy hotels (The Lygon Arms is lovely), art galleries and museums. And for views of the village and the rolling countryside? Head up Broadway Tower, and then back down for a walk to The Mount Inn – a traditional pub with an incredible vantage point. Also good is The Rising Sun hotel right on top of Cleeve Hill (the highest point in the Cotswolds) and The National Trust’s Crickley Hill.

You want your fill of nature but also want some evening fun, too? We hear you. And, in fact, Leeds hears you. So let’s start with Rodley Nature Reserve, a 20-minute drive from Leeds city centre. This lush and vibrant wetland reserve is replete with water features, woodland, grassland and scrub, each playing host to a huge amount of fauna – including 15 species of dragonfly. Very cool. And if you’re feeling that flora and fauna vibe? Head to Temple Newsam House, where you can revel in gardens engineered by the master himself, Capability Brown.

If you’re reading this, then no doubt you’re a fan of Bombay Sapphire! The Bombay Sapphire Distillery in Laverstoke isn’t just a great place to taste gin (although that’s obviously on the cards); you can take a guided tour of the gorgeous Bombay Sapphire glasshouses and learn about the ten botanicals which give the gin its unique flavour. Less than half an hour’s drive away is Winchester – the ancient cathedral city that’s packed with fantastic restaurants like sushi fave Kyoto Kitchen (served with Hampshire-grown wasabi!) and traditional cake shops like Anvil Tea Rooms. Feeling energetic? Winchester marks the start of the glorious, green South Downs Way, which stretches all the way to Eastbourne.
