Something simple and fuss-free, a sloe gin with Schweppes Soda water and a slice of grapefruit always hits the spot.
What is your go-to order for after work drinks?
Originally trained as a mechanical engineer, self-taught chef Lennard Yeong took an unconventional route into the realm of food after emerging as a finalist on the first season of MasterChef Asia. His recipes and kitchen experiments have amassed a following, and he is presently the resident-in-house chef at Miele Singapore.
You have many home cooking and cocktail recipes – what are some of your favourite cocktail recipes to conjure up at home?
These days I prefer eating seafood, which goes perfectly with a lighter cocktail like my favourite G&T. A pan-seared fish with a drizzle of lemon juice and olive oil, topped with a generous handful of chives and dill is exactly how I like it.
What food do you recommend pairing your favourite cocktail recipe with?
Yes, it was definitely affected – but people I know still work in F&B and the service industry. Singapore’s nightlife scene has come a long way since the pandemic though, and has shown plenty of resilience in the face of hurdles and challenges the pandemic has presented us with. I can’t wait to see it back into full swing, and it’s also great to see big events like F1 coming back.
Your life must have been impacted by the pandemic over the last few years. What are your thoughts on Singapore’s nightlife scene these days?

Easy one! You can try a Schweppes-presso G&T that’s a simple, yet delicious pick-me-up, that uses a good gin, fresh espresso and Schweppes Tonic Water. If you’re looking for a mocktail, the Put Lime In The Coconut is refreshing and amazing for our weather. That’s just a quick mix of salt, coconut water and Schweppes Lemon-Lime soda.

If I had to distil it down, I would say that it’s the connection and quality time I have with my guests. I’ve met people from all walks of life and I’ve shared a few moments with many of them – celebrating birthdays, farewells, wins at work, and many more good times. And of course, I felt privileged to have been able to share all the moments with them, along with the cocktails I made. The joy I get from when a guest of mine enjoys a drink or has a great time is unlike any other.
