Begin at the Aviarios del Caribe/Sloth Sanctuary of Costa Rica, where the cute three-toed creatures are rescued and rehabilitated. After meeting Buttercup, one of the oldest rescues at the sanctuary, board a canoe and paddle down the Estrella River for an up-close examination of the dense rainforest these sloths call home.

After a scenic ride through to Haleiwa Harbor, you’ll board a 32-foot-long shark vessel helmed by trained marine biologists and head three miles offshore. The ride out gives the captain plenty of time to explain safety precautions, share amazing shark trivia and explain how sharks shaped Hawaiian culture. Once at the dive site, you don’t need any scuba experience to descend into the safety cage, but you will need a bit of courage. Once safely underwater, surrounded by the serene clear waters, several sharks will come up close, curious about you and the cage. Have your underwater camera ready!
