What lies ahead?
Ready to get moving? Everyone is shifting into explorer mode as they take in the spectacular views from the deck.
Regent had already sent you a list of shore excursions to choose from a couple of months ago, where you planned your daily itinerary. Barcelona alone has over 30 options in the Shore Excursion finder.
You could choose from a paella cooking experience, a meander through lesser-known local neighbourhoods, a chef-led tapas lunch, and a tour of the Sagrada Família with an architectural historian, among more standard fare like a walkabout in the Gothic Quarter. As the Shore Excursion finder allows you to filter by tour type and activity level, it's easy to narrow down the options best suited to your needs.
Breakfast at La Veranda
The buffet at La Veranda can hold its own against any 5-star hotel on land. Settle down at a table with a crisp white tablecloth and look out over the ocean as you enjoy a barista-made coffee and a variety of small plates.
La Veranda puts on a lavish selection combining traditional favourites and made-to-order omelettes at live cooking stations. There are also healthy options, like freshly-made smoothies and exotic fruits, at the Pool Grill. Daily specials include fluffy Belgian waffles with fresh blueberry compote.
You could also treat yourself to a Bloody Mary or Mimosa at the Coffee Connection. Everything under the sun is included—even champagne and caviar are available at the Compass Rose every Sunday.
A sunrise over the sea
You wake up as warm light filters through the curtains. For a second, you forget where you are—possibly because the bed is so big.
Time to order a latte. When it arrives at your door, you spot that they've even remembered you take two sugars. Out on the balcony, you savour a quiet moment to yourself.
For a minute, you wonder if you should call the suite attendant to bring breakfast in bed. But a stretch of land is visible on the horizon, much closer than it appeared last night.
It's going to be a big day, and an al fresco extravaganza at La Veranda is calling your name.
You don't need to leave the ship to have a truly indulgent night out. You can enjoy fine wines and premium spirits at any of the bars on board, all of which are included in your cruise fare.
The crew are near-clairvoyant, and remember your name and preferences from the very first day.
Take in a Broadway-style show after dinner, then head to the bar for a signature cocktail. Then, dance the night away to live tunes from the Regent Signature Orchestra. You might even be tempted to take to the stage with your best karaoke song.
Other options for unwinding include the ever-popular Connoisseur Club. Here, sip a fine cognac, chat with your fellow travellers, and enjoy an imported cigar from the humidor.
A night on the town
Tonight, you're dining at Pacific Rim, a pan-Asian restaurant with a Zen-like ambience. It welcomes guests with a full-size replica of a cherry blossom tree. Menus are inspired by countries from across Asia—everything from high-end sushi to Korean BBQ.
The meal begins with tuna tartar with mirin soy sauce and ginger dressing. Other delicious bites include Peking duck salad, Alaskan King Crab summer rolls, and beef tataki with garlic chips. Service is at the standard of a Michelin-starred restaurant.
Miso black cod is a favourite main course among Regent guests. It comes with pickled daikon and spicy den miso. Or you could decide to go with the seafood laksa instead, a delicious combination of lobster, shrimp, and scallops in a coconut-curry sauce. A flight of sake and a Don Papa rum cake finishes the meal off very nicely.
Luxurious menus
Back on board, it's easy to forget you're on a cruise ship. There are eight unique dining experiences (not counting in-suite service), and every restaurant is included in the cruise fare.
The two main restaurants, Compass Rose and La Veranda, are flexible and happy to take walk-ins. There are no set dining times, so you're free to eat whenever you like. Dinner has several courses, including appetizers, a pasta course, entrées, and desserts. So far, you've enjoyed treats like goose liver parfait, parsnip truffle soup, and a rack of lamb at the main restaurant alone.
Other options include the Pool Grill and Sette Mari at La Veranda. The four speciality restaurants require reservations—but there's no extra charge, and you can book at any time.

An evening like no other
Immersive Overnights are the highlight for many Regent guests. Staying over in port can completely change the feel of a cruise, as evenings are often when a city reveals its true character.
Nice is especially beautiful after the sun sets. The light softens on the promenade, and the sails in the harbour take on a silvery glow. You're on an independent tour this time, but your guide can offer suggestions on where to dine. Other destinations have fully-guided evening tours to choose from.
As your floating 6-star hotel is waiting just around the corner, you don't need to worry about the logistics. Just hop back on the coach whenever you're ready to call it a night.
Sail on to Monte Carlo
Today, you're enjoying some time at sea before hitting Monte Carlo in the afternoon. You'll be staying overnight in port, so there's plenty of time to rest and recharge before exploring.
What better way to start than at the spa? This sanctuary-at-sea has three outdoor Jacuzzis, a sauna, an aroma steam room, and multi-sensory showers. You don't need to book a treatment to be able to use these facilities—they're included in the cruise fare.
The friends you've made at sea have lots of different things planned today. Excursion options include a high-end perfumery tour in Grasse and a road trip around the timeless "eagle's nest" villages of the Côte d'Azur. You've chosen to embark on a tour of Nice's markets, together with one of the ship's talented chefs. You'll browse the open-air markets and get tips on the best vendors for olive oil, confections, and herbes de Provence, finishing up with lunch.
Wander at your own pace
Get lost in the winding streets of the city's old quarter, and stop for some much-needed tapas wherever takes your fancy. Enjoy a long, lazy meal in a pretty plaza.
The most traditional dishes include esqueixada de bacallà (bacallà is cod, a favourite in Catalonia), and arròs negre (black rice flavoured with rich squid ink).
Regent are dedicated to providing as many overnight stays as the itinerary allows. That means there's no hurry to run back to the ship, and you can explore like a local after the daytrippers depart. Head up to Bunkers del Carmel, which is around 20 minutes' walk from Parc Güel. This free viewpoint requires a bit of a hike, but has stunning views of the city at sunset.
A unique wine-making experience
Regent ships spend the full day in port whenever possible, so guests can squeeze the most out of every destination.
Today, you're off on a 5-hour wine-making experience at the Can Macia estate (available on select sailings only). The estate is near the foothills of Montserrat, with over 35 hectares of vineyard.
You'll learn the fascinating story of the Bohigas family, who have been growing grapes and producing wines at the estate since the 13th century. During a tour of the vineyard, you'll learn all about the ideal terroir and see how cava is aged in the underground stone cellar.
After a tasting of the cava, you'll make your on blend using grapes grown on the Can Macia estate.
A bit of background first. If you prefer to explore at your own pace, without a group, you're entirely free to do your own thing. However, with a variety of included and unlimited shore excursions available in every port, you'll likely find an enhanced version of whatever you were planning independently, all ready to book for no extra cost.
Even if you've visited a city before, you'll almost certainly find a shore excursion that'll show you a whole new side to it. A special type of tour called Go Local is designed to connect you with the local community, helping you discover the destination through the eyes of the people who live there. In other destinations, there are also specialty tours dedicated to architecture, wine, and sustainable living.
Because groups are kept small, it feels less like a regular tour, and more like a local friend showing you the ropes.
