If you're longing to see more of the world, but have no idea where to start, then an escorted tour might just be the answer. But what actually is an escorted tour? Think of it like a holiday where all the planning is done for you: you'll travel with a guide from place to place on a pre-planned itinerary, with excursions, accommodation, transfers, and sometimes even your international flights all taken care of. But who typically goes on them? Everyone! Escorted tours aren't exclusively for the older generation, or for young backpackers: there really is something for everyone. If it wasn't clear already, we're big fans at Travelzoo—so we've put together an expert guide to talk you through all the different types, and help you navigate the big, wide world of touring.
The Travel Weekly Hotlist published in association with Travelzoo honours the best suppliers in the touring and adventure sector and will feature five awards voted for by Travelzoo members. Winners will be announced on the 12th June.

A nature lover's paradise
Or, go a little further and discover the island of Cebu in the Philippines. Fly into Cebu City, the oldest city in the country. Wander through ancient basilicas, see the beautiful Sirao Flower Garden, and try the famous lechon (roast pig).
Once you've become acquainted with the capital, it's time to explore more of the island. It's home to a plethora of natural wonders: go bamboo rafting through Kawasan Falls, or hike to Osmena Peak, with its panoramic views of the surrounding emerald hills.
The coastal town of Moalboal is a haven for marine life, with excellent diving and snorkelling opportunities. We recommend taking a boat trip to Pescador Island, with its stunning coral reefs. Look out for turtles, reef sharks, and sometimes even dolphins.
Cliffs, coves, and crystal-clear waters
Sun seekers can fly to Krabi, and soak up Thailand's gorgeous white-sand beaches. Ao Nang beach is a great spot for island-hopping to the nearby Phi Phi islands, with its turquoise waters and limestone cliffs. In fact, there are over 150 islands off Krabi's shoreline for you to explore.
As day turns to dusk, you can head out to the night markets to sample some Thai street food. Tuck into fresh seafood, meat skewers, or stick to the classic Pad Thai. Top it all off with a sweet coconut pancake or mango sticky rice.
Top tip: if you travel in November, you can experience Thailand's enchanting festival of lights, Loy Krathong. Lanterns and candle-lit offerings light up the skies and the waters.
Ancient temples, timeless allure
If you're looking to take in some world-class sights, you can fly to Siem Reap in Cambodia. This is the home of some pretty incredible temples. Perhaps the most famous is Angkor Wat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that's hailed as the largest religious structure in the world. Lonely Planet calls it "the mother of all temples". Also in Siem Reap is Ta Prohm, best known for being featured in the Hollywood film "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider". Built in 1186, the temple is renowned for its massive tree roots weaving through the ruins.
Siem Reap's town is also a destination in its own right. Taste sizzling street food, then soak up the vibrant nightlife of Pub Street. Or, if you fancy something more chilled, head to the hip neighbourhood of Wat Bo Village on the east banks of the river. It's home to atmospheric bars, trendy boutiques, and a fantastic food scene.
Firefly and Malaysia Airlines connects travelers from Penang and Subang to the rest of Malaysia, as well as Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia.
With their codeshare partnership, you can travel on a single ticket, with no separate bookings needed. Transfer in Kuala Lumpur, and your baggage is checked through to the final stop, so there's no need to check it back in.
Plus, you can spread payments on your booking when using the Buy Now, Pay Later option from PayPal. Pay in three installments across three months for tickets valued between £20 and £2000.
Travel with ease
Exploring Southeast Asia's gems has just got a lot easier, as Malaysia Airlines have announced three exciting new routes to Krabi, Siem Reap, and Cebu.
Island-hop around the beautiful Philippines, from the lively bars of its cities to the emerald rice fields. Soak up the sun on the beaches of Thailand with a cocktail in hand. Or, discover centuries-old UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Cambodia.
