Steven V. Joyal, M.D., is the Chief Medical Officer for Life Extension® and oversees medical and scientific initiatives. Prior to joining Life Extension®, Dr. Joyal worked in
the pharmaceutical industry,
most recently at Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceutical Research Institute as the group director
in global clinical metabolic drug development and prior to that
at Abbott Laboratories/Knoll Pharmaceutical Company. Preceding his entry into the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Joyal was in a clinical practice
affiliated with Brown University
and Women & Infants Hospital.
Dr. Joyal is a graduate of the Dartmouth/Brown program in medicine and was board-certified
in Internal Medicine in 1997.
Philip Smith oversees the
research and development of every
article that appears in Life Extension Magazine®. Mr. Smith has been the editor in chief of Life Extension Magazine® for 16 years. His background in national monthly magazines, graphic design
and nutritional research along
with a hand-picked staff of MDs, designers and editors helps produce the most innovative and advanced magazine on life extension in the world. Prior to
Life Extension®, Mr. Smith was managing editor at GQ Magazine.
Dr. Crystal M. Gossard is a board-certified nutrition specialist, licensed dietitian-nutritionist, researcher, educator, lecturer, spokesperson and author. She
has more than 15 years of experience in the fields of nutrition, fitness, dietary supplements
and integrative and functional medicine. Dr. Gossard holds master’s and doctoral degrees in nutrition and has lectured extensively on various health topics. Dr. Gossard is a member of
the American College of Nutrition and American Society of Nutrition. Dr. Gossard is a Clinical Corporate Trainer for Life Extension®, and
in this role, she educates health
care professionals on the latest scientific and medical advances in integrative medicine and longevity.
Dr. Michael A. Smith received his medical doctorate from the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Smith practiced internal medicine and radiology in Dallas, Texas in the early 2000s and then transitioned to the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries as an educator and consultant. Dr. Smith currently is the director of education and spokesperson for Life Extension® and is the author of The Supplement Pyramid: How to build your personalized nutritional regimen. Dr. Smith hosts Live FOREVERish, a podcast and Facebook live show for Life Extension®.
Dr. Shanti Albani obtained her medical degree in Naturopathic Medicine in 2003 from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland Oregon.
Dr. Albani practiced medicine for many years in central Mexico specializing in gastrointestinal disorders and hormone balance. During this time, she also owned
a nutrition store and taught courses in Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy for physicians. Dr. Albani has worked at Life Extension® since 2010.
