Take a hike
With its varied terrain, Hawaii is home to a vast network of hiking trails. For a fairly easy stroll (ideal for those with kids in tow), consider the 45-minute climb up Diamond Head Crater, near Waikiki Beach. At the summit, you’ll get to enjoy a bird’s-eye view of Oahu’s southeastern shore. For something more challenging, try the Koko Head Crater, often dubbed “Nature’s Stairmaster.” You’ll have to climb 1,048 wooden steps to reach the top, but the splendid vistas of Hanauma Bay are well worth the effort.

Learn how to surf
Hawaii is a veritable surfing mecca. Every winter, the massive swells off the island’s North Shore draw seasoned pros from all over the world. But if you still need to master the basics, summer is the perfect time to learn thanks to the tamer surfing conditions. Sign up for a lesson at Waikiki Beach, where the gentle rollers are ideal for beginners. You’ll be riding the waves in no time!

Try ziplining
Fancy soaring across lush rainforests and past thundering waterfalls at high speed? You can experience just that and more on an adrenaline-pumping ziplining tour. Sign up for the three-hour Kohala Canopy Adventure with Kohala Zipline on The Big Island, where you’ll zoom from tree to tree at speeds of up to 45mph. Or opt for the full-day Zip and Dip, which includes a short hike and a refreshing swim in a private waterfall.
Planning Tip: To avoid Hawaii’s mandatory, 10-day self-quarantine for visitors from outside the Aloha state, you’ll need to upload a valid, negative COVID-19 test from a trusted partner to the Safe Travels
website before arrival. Visitors who have been vaccinated in Hawaii may travel between the Hawaiian Islands without any pre-travel testing or quarantine requirements. Visit the Travel to Hawaii page on the Club website for details.
Try your hand at deep-sea fishing off the coast of Oahu or The Big Island

Go deep-sea fishing
The waters off Hawaii are replete with a variety of fish, including yellowfin tuna (ahi), dorado (mahi mahi) and striped marlin. Avid anglers should head straight for the Kona Coast along The Big Island, which is a prime location for deep-sea fishing — try booking with Bite Me Sport Fishing, which conducts both private and shared charters. In Oahu, the best fishing can be experienced off the Leeward Coast. Popular operators include Grand Slam Sportfishing and Oahu Charter Sport Fishing.
Hilton Grand Vacations has nine properties in Hawaii, including Hokulani Waikiki by Hilton Grand Vacations. Located in the heart of Waikiki, it offers easy access to the neighborhood’s famous beaches, restaurants and entertainment venues. The property is open and accepting Club Member reservations!
