Looking to relax and recharge? Forget the standard yoga class or spa session and opt for something more unusual instead. In celebration of Global Wellness Day on June 11, here are some of the most novel wellness experiences you can enjoy during your next stay with Hilton Grand Vacations.
Soak up the myriad benefits of floatation therapy

Floatation therapy — which involves soaking in a dark, soundproof tank filled with warm water and Epsom salts — is growing in popularity. While the experience may seem claustrophobic, it’s in fact highly relaxing. As you’ll be cut off from virtually all external stimuli, you’ll find it easier to enter a meditative state — which in turn can help alleviate stress and anxiety. Plus, the high salt content of the water means that you’ll be floating weightlessly, reducing the tension in your muscles and joints. See if the ritual floats your boat at Solea Medical Spa & Beauty Lounge in Miami.
Where to stay: Make McAlpin Ocean Plaza, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club your base in the Magic City. Its prime location in the heart of stylish South Beach means you’ll be within easy reach of the neighborhood’s best restaurants, bars and boutiques. It’s also a 30-minute drive from Solea Medical Spa & Beauty Lounge.

The Arctic Ice Room at Qua Baths & Spa features artificial snow
Qua Baths & Spa in Las Vegas is a sprawling 50,000-square-foot retreat with a wide array of distinctive wellness amenities. Among these is the one-of-a-kind Arctic Ice Room, where mint-infused air has been chilled to 55 degrees Fahrenheit and artificial snow cascades from the domed ceiling. It’s best experienced immediately after a sauna session or a dip in the spa’s Roman baths — the stark temperature contrast is said to help boost your body’s circulation.
Where to stay: The wellness journey continues at Flamingo, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club, which is a 10-minute walk from Qua Baths & Spa. Each 1- and 2-Bedroom Suite features a large bath with an oversized corner tub — ideal for long soaks.

Healing crystals are often used during chakra massages

Some wellness practitioners believe that the human body is based on an energy system composed of seven chakras (wheels), each corresponding to specific organs and states of being. At Ruby Room in Chicago, you can unblock these energy centers with a 90-minute Chakrassage treatment. It begins with a chakra reading to identify where you’re holding energy, then segues into a chakra-balancing exercise and rejuvenating full-body massage.
Where to stay: Book a stylish studio or suite at Chicago Magnificent Mile, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club. Situated a 10-minute drive from Ruby Room, this sleek urban retreat offers easy access to some of the city’s top attractions, including Navy Pier, Millennium Park and Grant Park. As the property is highly popular, be sure to familiarize yourself with its booking window and secure your stay in advance.

Sound baths can purportedly bring about a heightened state of relaxation

As the name suggests, a sound bath is a meditative activity that involves “bathing” in vibrating sound waves produced by instruments such as gongs, singing bowls and chimes, and even the human voice. Health benefits can include expanded awareness and an increased sense of well-being. At Ohm Center in New York City, you can sign up for sound-bath sessions where instructors use crystal and hand-hammered bowls to help you enter a deep state of relaxation.
Where to stay: Unwind in style at The Central at 5th, a Hilton Club, located a 10-minute drive from Ohm Center. Here, you can work up a sweat at the on-site fitness center and enjoy the ambiance of New York City from the outdoor terrace.

Learn the ancient art of tai chi in Hawaii

In Hawaii, the ancient Chinese martial arts system of tai chi is a popular pastime, and for good reason — the sport’s gentle, flowing movements are said to help reduce stress and anxiety, and increase balance and flexibility. Hone your skills at Hilton Waikoloa Village on The Big Island, where tai chi classes (available on a first-come, first-served basis) take place at 10 a.m. every Wednesday.
Where to stay: Set within Hilton Waikoloa Village, Ocean Tower, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club features cozy studios and spacious suites with private balconies — many of which boast panoramic views of the water. You’ll also get access to all of the Village’s amenities, including three oceanfront pools, a tennis court, two championship golf courses and a spa.
