Welcome to the UKG Stories with Purpose interactive experience — a journey that explores the important topics of belonging, equity, and impact through stories told by UKG customers, global partners, and employees. Their everyday, intersectional experiences demonstrate the vital impact that UKG and others in the global business community can play when we hold ourselves to a higher standard; when we welcome all identities and celebrate our many differences; and when we work together to expand equity and build a future fit for all.
“Incorporating fundamental elements of belonging, equity, and impact into our strategy and the way we operate drives innovation, strengthens our teams, and makes us better partners to our customers. It also makes us better people. I know I’ve been deeply impacted as I continue on this journey together with my fellow U Krewers. We have a long history of caring for people at UKG, and our journey continues as we proudly accept our role in creating a brighter, more equitable, and socially responsible future for all—in business and beyond.”
— Chris Todd, CEO, UKG
“We have a goal to make UKG the greatest people company in the world. To get there, we must always evolve, stay curious, keep learning, and live our purpose every day as UKG transcends the standard for what it means to be a company where all individuals feel safe and respected, equally valued, and confident that they belong. We drive this unique commitment into our global communities through our strategic social impact initiatives aimed at creating equitable opportunity for all.”

At UKG, our purpose is people. We believe when people feel valued and that they belong, their innovative spirit is unlocked and they are empowered to tap into their unique talents for the good of themselves, their team, their company, their customers, and their community. This belief is what drives our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEI&B) and Social Impact strategy. Our four strategic pillars guide us on our mission to elevate opportunity for our people, our customers, and our communities by celebrating unique identities and perspectives, championing inclusive cultures, and driving positive change around the world — for all.
We live in a world where talent is distributed equally — but opportunity is not. We seek to change that. And we start by looking for ways to create opportunities for all people to not only be their authentic selves but to achieve more. We believe that success is only possible when all people feel valued and respected and are empowered to tap into their unique talents. This is why we not only seek out but celebrate unique identities and perspectives, and foster a workplace where all people feel valued, respected, safe, and confident that they have abundant opportunity to grow.
We know that great workplaces are only possible in a world that cares for, respects, and empowers all people. This is why we seek to uplift every community through investments and commitments that level the equity playing field for all people. We are dedicated to investing in, partnering with, and supporting organizations that share our values to collectively drive positive, impactful change and build diverse, equitable, and inclusive communities where everyone can thrive.
Belonging, equity, and impact principles not only improve the lives for our people and customers. They are the key to unlocking successful business outcomes for any organization. When people are empowered to be their best selves, they’re free to do their best work. We seek to use our innovative solutions and thought leadership initiatives to guide organizations to a brighter future where every person belongs and every outcome is better than the last.
In 2022, UKG set out on a journey to measure a very important aspect of our progress toward our belonging, equity, and impact goals. We work closely with our amazing People Data team and our Global Belonging, Equity, and Impact Council to set goals aspiring to a representation of women globally, women in leadership roles globally, and women in technical roles globally at the employee level and women in technical leadership roles globally and representation of race and ethnicity in the U.S. at the employee and leadership levels. We carefully consider a number of factors when we create our goals. We look at our five-year hiring plan and the representation in the communities where we are growing, and we created goals that would allow for great innovation, progress, and expanded opportunity and equity for all to be successful. Our aspirational date to achieve these goals is 2026. We are very transparent and proud of the journey that we are on. We have initiatives and programs that are helping us to make progress toward these goals, and we are constantly looking for ways to improve. One example of our early success happened throughout 2022. We set our goal around people who identify as women globally at 46%. In the beginning of 2022 when we set the goal, our representation was approximately 42%. At the time we set the goal, India was at a representation of 27% people who identify as women. The growth and diversity of hiring in India has been incredible. In one year, our India Talent Acquisition Team and business leaders hired at a rate of 34% people who identify as women. Because of their efforts, we achieved the goal early for women globally, but we want to ensure we have people who identify as women in all roles. As a software company that’s focused on innovative products, we added a goal focusing on women in technical roles and women in technical leadership roles. Why do we do this? Because great companies aspire to have an employee population in their company that is representative of the customers and communities they serve. It drives greater innovation, employee engagement and employee retention, which are all a business imperative and drive greater success.

We believe that every person deserves the opportunity to go after their dreams and make them a reality. It’s why we seek to support and uplift students at minority-serving institutions (MSIs) and historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) through a program called Project Empower U. The mission is clear: prepare these bright minds for the workforce by delivering expert content from UKG professionals directly to students.

“I wasn’t initially planning to come to UKG Day because I was nervous and shy, but as soon as I walked in, I was greeted with open arms and smiles, and the environment felt so warm,” said Amaya Riggins, Junior Finance Student at GSU. “I felt more confident to network, and I was encouraged to apply. But Project Empower U is not just an initiative; it's a bridge that connects education, experience, and career opportunities at UKG and beyond. Our ultimate goal is to identify and nurture diverse talent, creating a robust pipeline of skilled individuals. Through this program, UKG aims to enhance its visibility as the employer of choice, making a lasting impact on talented students. One of those students is former intern turned UKG Solution Consultant Keiara Lockett. “I had a very long journey when applying for internships before I came across UKG. Often, I would feel very nervous and anxious during interviews until I began speaking with UKG recruiters. After multiple steps of interviews, I never felt that UKG wasn’t the place I wanted to be. A year after my internship, I can now say I am a full-time employee! At UKG, I felt as if the work I assisted with was truly meaningful and would make an impact both professionally and personally. UKG helped me to understand that a positive workplace environment makes you excited to work! Full of authenticity and warmth, I have found my dream company at UKG.” As part of Empower U, on September 19, 2022, we hosted our inaugural “UKG Day” Symposium at Georgia State University (GSU). It was an exciting day of firsts as 15 employees and 71 students gathered for this transformative event. The symposium featured presentations from UKG employees, hiring managers, and members of the Talent Acquisition team, where they shared valuable insight into what it means to work at UKG.
Afterward, students participated in speed networking sessions with UKG representatives. This not only allowed everyone to make valuable connections, but it also gave students the platform to share their experiences and aspirations for the future. Additionally, resume reviews were conducted, providing students with valuable feedback to tailor their resumes for the positions that interest them. I’m excited about UKG.” Beyond discussions about job prospects and qualifications, people connected on a deeper level. For some first-generation college students in attendance, it served as a powerful motivation to keep pushing forward — that UKG is here to inspire and guide them on the way to success. Thanks to our dedicated Diverse Talent Engagement team, GSU has become a top priority partner school. Within just one year, UKG has hired 19 students from GSU, with 7 of them being a direct result of Project Empower U sessions. This symposium marked the beginning of a transformative journey for both UKG and the students we empower. It's a story of collaboration, inspiration, and the belief that everyone deserves a chance to achieve their goals. With Project Empower U, UKG aims to pave the way for a brighter future not just for these students, but for the entire industry.
In collaboration with our Project Empower U initiative and our Early Talent Team, the Sales department has been diligently identifying and nurturing a diverse pool of qualified candidates. The UKG Sales Academy is an exciting new program designed to cultivate a pipeline of outstanding early career talent. With a strategic approach to recruitment, hands-on training, and real-world experience, we aim to shape the future leaders of our Sales organization.
Having successfully completed rotational assignments and gained valuable shadowing experience, participants of the UKG Sales Academy emerge as highly sought-after candidates for roles in Sales, Business Development, Presales, and Sales Support. Inspired by Chris's remarkable progress, we offered him a full-time position as one of our pioneering Sales Associates within the Sales Academy. His appointment paved the way for a cohort of talented and diverse Sales Associates who joined us in June of 2023. Chris's journey represents the very essence of our newly refined Sales Internship strategy and exemplifies how we envision the program fostering our Sales Academy. Reflecting on his time with us, Chris shared, “This whole experience was much more than I expected. As an intern, I’ve truly enjoyed the customer-facing aspect of Sales and getting the opportunity to lead a major project. The most gratifying part was the inclusiveness I felt, even when working with teams I wasn’t officially a part of. Now I’m looking forward to becoming a valuable asset to UKG through the Sales Academy!” The UKG Sales Academy is not just a program; it is a transformative journey that enables aspiring sales professionals to unleash their potential and thrive in an organization committed to excellence.
Chris Jackson, a recent graduate from Indiana University Bloomington, is a great example of how this program has a major and lasting impact. Chris joined us as a Sales intern during the summer of 2022, eager to take his first steps into the world of professional sales. Throughout his internship, he worked closely with seasoned managers, immersing himself in various workshops, attending client meetings, and contributing to the Presales help desk. With his proactive attitude and unwavering commitment, Chris quickly established himself as a Presales superstar.
When we talk about diversity, it’s not just about the color of someone’s skin or their gender identity. It’s about the extraordinary journey that each of us takes in comparison to others and the diverse perspectives and experiences that make every individual unique. It’s about challenging the status quo in search of something different, innovative, and truly extraordinary and celebrating your individuality, knowing that you bring value like no one else. Everyone’s story is unique, and the tales of “hidden talent” are no exception. These are individuals whose professional journeys defy convention, shaped by career breaks, military service, transitions across industries, or lack of a traditional four-year degree. At UKG, we recognize the value of potential beyond paper qualifications, and we actively seek out these hidden gems, equipping them with skills for a rewarding career.
But through the recruitment process hearing about a company where people come first really gave me hope, and I knew that I had to throw my name into the hat, and I am so thankful that I did,” Caldwell said.
With UKG championing their journeys, individuals are empowered to break free from convention and forge their unique paths toward success. It's a narrative of growth, resilience, and endless possibilities.
“On the Talent Attraction Team, diversity is more than what we strive to find, it’s embedded in the very heart and soul of who we are and reflected in what we each bring to the table,” states one of our UKG Talent Acquisition team members. “It manifests itself in the way we challenge each other’s thought processes and biases. It’s reflected in the way we’re able to bring differing ideas to a difficult task that becomes transformative change. It’s what allows us to connect, not only with diverse talent on a visceral level, but each other through our shared and unique experiences. The Talent Attraction Team embodies what makes UKG so special because it seeks the innovative, values the unique, and reflects the human side of diversity in action.”
Take Alexia Caldwell, for instance. For years, she devoted herself as a high school AP physics teacher, but the post-pandemic reality left her feeling burnt out and yearning for something more. When she discovered an opportunity to forge a new path, she seized it. “When you have a degree in education you come to understand that your options are traditionally very limited and getting rejected from company after company was very disheartening.
Our transformative “Hidden Talent” program opens doors for individuals from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and educational paths, empowering them to shape their own career narratives alongside the unwavering support of UKG. “This opportunity has completely changed my life for the better. With the help of all my amazing mentors here at UKG I have had, I have learned skills and accomplished things I would never have dreamed of,” she said. Alexia now works as a Solutions Consultant II within our Global Delivery Department.
UNIDOS, UKG’s employee resource group (ERG) that is open to any person who champions, supports, or relates to the Latinx-Hispanic community, is committed to empowering our members to be confident in their voice, creating networking and development opportunities, steering impactful conversations, and cultivating a powerful community in a supportive and uplifting environment. In a continued effort to help our UNIDOS familia (family) to gain visibility to opportunities within UKG, our Learning & Career Workstream has partnered with Talent Acquisition to create paths and awareness to internal career opportunities at UKG. We encourage our employees to be their own greatest advocates and achieve their career goals. UNIDOS reshares UKG’s “hot job” announcements through their sites, channels, and monthly newsletter to help create higher visibility for their members to know what openings are available.
A success story from these efforts is from Molly Grove, a UKG employee looking to step into a new role within the company. Molly was overwhelmed by the sea of opportunities, so she reached out to her peers, asked questions about the different roles, and narrowed her search. These conversations helped her realize that the skills she had gained as an executive assistant connected perfectly with the role she was applying to — which she attained as a learning management systems analyst. Molly is a shining example of the powerful impact that ERGs like UNIDOS can accomplish.

Despite rapid growth and an expanded workforce, we discovered a concerning trend in our company: stagnation in the representation of women at both overall and leadership levels. In January 2022, women accounted for only 27% of our workforce, with just 17% occupying leadership positions. To address this challenge head-on, we revamped our flagship women development program, the Accelerated Learning Program (ALP). This program has been instrumental in building a robust pipeline of women leaders, addressing the underrepresentation of women in senior roles. With a successful six-year track record since its inception in 2016 at UKG India, ALP has supported our FireUP (Female Inclusion, Resilience, & Excellence) employee resource group (ERG). Through six waves of the program, we provided intensive training and coaching to the top-performing women employees, resulting in remarkable success. The impact of ALP speaks for itself: 80% of participants have advanced to the next level within 12-18 months of program completion, and an astounding 94% continue to thrive within UKG. Over the past 18-24 months, our overall women representation has increased to 30%, marking a commendable 3% growth.
Even within the people management cadre, we have made notable progress, with a 2% increase in women representation over the past 12 months (from 17% to 19%). Furthermore, our commitment to diversity and inclusion extends to hiring practices. We maintain a steady 35% representation of women for lateral hiring and an impressive 50% for campus hirings throughout the year. Our employees are starting to see the results of these efforts. In our July UKX Engagement Survey, 91% of respondents gave favorable scores in the Diversity and Culture category. At UKG, we firmly believe in fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace. Through the power of programs like ALP and our continued efforts to cultivate gender parity, we are igniting positive change and unlocking the full potential of our exceptional women leaders.
At UKG, we believe not only in empowering our own people but also those in our communities — because a better world is only possible when everyone is equally empowered to thrive. It’s why we recently joined forces with Broward UP, to increase access to post-secondary education and training. This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for UKG and Broward College, as they aim to expand the college’s service model and strengthen community-centric approaches to deliver workforce education courses and programs. With a focus on areas most affected by economic immobility, this collaborative effort strives to make a significant impact in Broward County. By leveraging its assets and relationships, Broward College is dedicated to empowering every resident to pursue post-secondary education, a core ideal that drives their existence. The expanded service model targets Broward County zip codes with disproportionately high unemployment rates and low education attainment. Broward UP’s work centers around 11 specific zip codes, which encompass 15 municipalities across the county. We take immense pride in contributing not only through direct scholarship funding but also by providing Broward UP with essential “wrap-around” services. This includes 46 laptop loaners, 113 career preparation services (including resume development, job interview prep, employment development, and career placement), and 311 completed and confirmed prior learning assessments, resulting in a remarkable total of 2,421 college credits earned by students. Additionally, 20 students received Emergency Assistance to alleviate financial burdens related to rent/mortgage, household expenses, and career/educational needs. Through this partnership, UKG and Broward UP are committed to transforming lives and creating opportunities for individuals in our communities. Together, we aim to break down barriers and ensure a brighter future for all.

Gina Jean, a goal-oriented individual proud to be of Haitian descent, learned much from her two parents who migrated from a third-world country and taught her the importance of sacrifice. With the goal of getting an education, a career, and a home, Gina and her family felt the challenges, and “Things just didn’t pan out that way,” Gina says. “With three mouths to feed, they made the choice to accepting low paying jobs to keep things afloat in our household.” Gina knew she had to keep her aspirations alive of attending college. After deciding to go to Broward College, Gina obtained her A.A. in General Studies, then was offered the chance to further her studies within the Broward UP program. Gina completed the Medical Assistant program and is preparing to take the National Industry Certification program and hopes to continue her path to become a Registered Nurse. “The Broward UP program has uplifted me by giving me hope again. This program has been life changing,” says Gina.

When remarkable women come together to learn, to connect, and to uplift one another, the possibilities for achievement become limitless. That was the sentiment on March 26, 2022, when a sense of excitement and anticipation filled the air at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas as women from all over the country gathered at the prestigious Black Enterprise Women of Power Summit. Among them were 40 dynamic Black women of color representing UKG and our mission to empower our employees.
The event provided an amazing platform for these professionals to network with each other and gain valuable insight into their respective fields. Speakers included gospel singer Yolanda Adams, recording artist Dionne Warwick, journalist and founder of Madam Walker Family Archives A’Lelia Bundles, and President and Director-Counsel of NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Sherrilyn Ifill. Eager to discover strategies for advancing their careers in the corporate world, UKG attendees gained actionable insights during workshops, equipping themselves with tangible tools to navigate challenging work environments. Along the way, they formed connections and forged friendships that would offer unwavering support in times of need. As the three-day summit came to an end, each attendee gained invaluable knowledge that would shape their professional journeys moving forward. It's no surprise that soon after the conference ended, 15 out of the 40 women were promoted. These resilient ladies now stand as shining examples not only within their company but also in society at large, proving that diverse opportunities lead to successful futures when access is given.

In March 2022, UKG made the exciting announcement of our Senior Executive Member partnership with Reboot Representation. Reboot Representation is a coalition of leading tech companies on a mission to double the number of Black, Latinx, and Native American (BLNA) women receiving computing degrees by 2025. This partnership is part of UKG’s larger Close the Gap initiative. With a multimillion-dollar investment, UKG is driving awareness and action to resolve pay disparity in today's workforce. We are committed to bridging the gap between men, women, and underrepresented groups. Through collective action from the Reboot Coalition, which includes companies from leading tech companies that share values around belonging, equity and impact, and their strategic philanthropic programs, Reboot Representation supports organizations and educational institutions working to recruit, retain, and graduate BLNA women with degrees in computer science, helping them secure thriving opportunities in the world of technology. As part of our strategy to build a diverse, empowered, and inclusive workforce at UKG, in 2022 we also partnered with Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT). MLT is a nonprofit that equips high-achieving individuals from minority groups with training, coaching, and networks that were once unavailable to them.
In November 2022, MLT hosted its Fall Seminar, which gave UKG the opportunity to directly connect with over 700 exceptional college students from diverse backgrounds. It was a historic moment, marking the largest in-person gathering of undergraduate Fellows in MLT's 20-year history. Since the seminar, almost 80 students have signed up to join UKG’s talent pipeline, and over two dozen have been interviewed by the Early Careers Talent Acquisition Team since the event. Diversity and inclusion are core to everything we do, and we’re proud to be a champion of positive change alongside all of our strategic partners.

The Out & Equal Workplace Summit is the largest LGBTQ+ conference in the world. With more than 5,000 attendees from all over the world at the October 2022 event, it was a chance for LGBTQ+ professionals to come together and share their stories and experiences in an open and welcoming environment. It was also a great opportunity for employers to learn how they could create more inclusive workplaces. At the event, we stood proudly as a Bronze-level sponsor and connected with more than 100 prospective candidates resulting in 29 additions to our talent pipeline. About 20 UKG employees engaged in valuable conversations and shared stories with attendees, both in person and virtually, about what it’s like to work at UKG and about the support employees receive, not just from UKG but also from each other through our employee resource groups.
With each day of the summit, everyone felt more inspired by their peers’ stories, experiences, and successes within LGBTQ+ communities around the world. Learning best practices from other organizations on how they have created inclusive environments for LGBTQ+ people was paired with actionable steps that are needed going forward so everyone can feel comfortable no matter where they work or who they love. While there is still much work to be done when it comes to workplace equality, we are encouraged by the progress of so many and are fiercely committed to making sure our workplace remains a safe place, free of discrimination, where everyone can embrace who they are and thrive.

It was the summer of 2020 when UKG launched the PeopleInspired Giving Foundation, an independent 501(c)(3) organization that provides financial-relief grants to UKG employees and their family members during times of crisis. In its first year alone, the foundation had raised almost $500,000 in grant money to be distributed around the world. The support came from a combination of funds from UKG itself, U Krewers, and equity partners all coming together to assist those in need during challenging times. To qualify for a grant recipients must either be employed by or freelance as an independent contractor with UKG or have experienced an adverse impact due to disaster such as property damage, uninsured medical costs or loss of income. One recipient who received help from the program said, “My family and I want to thank all that were involved in this decision. I feel honored and blessed to work for such an amazing company that has this incredible foundation established to step in as a family member to help reduce the burden and hardships we face in life. The support provided means more than words can express.”

Since its founding less than two years ago, the PeopleInspired Giving Foundation has been able to make a real difference in people’s lives. In 2022, the foundation provided 58 grants totaling $177K USD, all of which went toward supporting 52 U Krewers around the world. It is inspiring to witness how quickly this foundation has been able to have such an immense impact on so many people’s lives through their generous donations.
At UKG, we value diversity and inclusion. We understand that it is only through creating an equitable environment where everyone can thrive as their authentic selves that we can reach our potential. To ensure this happens, UKG developed a unique peer-to-peer learning program called Unified Belonging, Equity, and Impact Foundational Learning. This program was designed to provide employees with the necessary skills and knowledge to support them in their own personal belonging, equity, and impact journey. It enables all U Krewers to fully contribute to building a great culture. Through bite-sized bursts of practical content combined with actionable advice and reflection activities, Unified allows people at all levels of the organization to gain a deeper understanding of complex topics related to belonging, equity, and social impact.
“I am a senior female leader who is LGBTQ, and I am incredibly fortunate that my experience has largely been a positive one (both professionally and personally). Exploring the Unified platform opened my eyes to so much more than just my own experience and has helped me understand more about how to create an open and inclusive environment. Unified ... helped me think about how I interact with others, that not every experience is the same, and how I can adjust my thinking to support my team and colleagues.” — Ceri Daniels, Senior Director of Talent Acquisition (EMEA)
Ceri Daniels, Senior Director of Talent Acquisition (EMEA)
Unified Foundational Learning
The program also encourages small but powerful habits of inclusion that could be incorporated into daily routines across the organization. By focusing on personal improvement at both individual and organizational levels, Unified provides participants with real-world examples that they can use in their own working lives. The goal is for every employee who takes part in Unified to have an enhanced level of empathy and understanding when interacting with colleagues from different backgrounds or perspectives. In addition, each participant develops awareness around how they can make a positive social impact within their teams, departments, and local communities by leveraging what they learn during Unified sessions, ultimately helping create a better world. The success of Unified has been remarkable. Since its launch, 96 percent of senior executives have actively participated in discussions about belonging, equity, and impact.
And guess what happened next? People from all walks of life, from every corner of the company, embraced the BEC and became members. The growth was astonishing, with membership skyrocketing by 158%. It was incredible to witness individuals from diverse backgrounds connecting, bonding over shared experiences, and discussing important topics like diversity and inclusion initiatives. The conversations were not limited to ERG circles; colleagues from different departments joined in, too. Through these powerful dialogues and impactful events, we discovered that despite our differences, we can find common ground. It’s the key to creating a strong sense of belonging among our workforce, and we knew we were onto something truly special. As time goes on, the BEC continues to flourish, and the impact becomes even more evident. Employee engagement soared, and turnover rates plummeted as retention rates improved across all departments. The BEC had truly proven that when given meaningful opportunities to celebrate unique identities and perspectives, we can achieve incredible things together.
In 2022, UKG launched a game-changing platform to foster a sense of belonging for every single employee, regardless of their background or identity. This has become a place where relationships are built and leadership thrives. The Belonging and Engagement Center (BEC) provides a space for employee resource groups (ERGs) to come together, grow, and inspire each other. The BEC has also made it possible for employees to easily join ERGs, stay updated on events, access resources, and connect with fellow employees who are just as passionate about creating an inclusive workplace. It’s a place where relationships are built, where every voice matters, and where everyone can participate in important conversations that truly shape our future. But it doesn’t stop there. The BEC also empowers ERG leaders with access to valuable resources, support systems, metrics tracking tools, and training programs. With all these tools at their fingertips, they’re equipped to bring their ideas to life and make a real impact within their groups.
With the launch of the UKG B&E Center, we saw ERG membership grow 158% in 2022.
With their commitment to inclusivity, our Australia U Krewers conducted their first-ever Inclusion Network Survey in September 2022. The response was astounding, with an impressive 81% of employees voluntarily participating, revealing the diverse makeup of Australian teams and paving the way for inclusive plans and strategies. The results of the survey were nothing short of enlightening. They revealed that Australia U Krewers had fostered an environment where people from different backgrounds thrived harmoniously, with mutual respect and understanding. The data not only showcased areas for further improvement but also empowered UKG to develop targeted programs and initiatives for specific groups, leading to unparalleled recruitment and retention rates.
“My family and I want to thank all that were involved in this decision. I feel honored and blessed to work for such an amazing company that has this incredible foundation established to step in as a family member to help reduce the burden and hardships we face in life. The support provided means more to me than I can express.”
Benefits of the BEC platform include:
Easy onboarding of new members Empowered collaboration Increased employee engagement
Real-time insights to analyze performance, track membership growth, and provide metrics.
A go-to resource for inclusion and culture building
Unique member experience based on what ERG membership(s) you are a part of
In a nation like Australia, with 100 religions and 300 ethnicities, the resounding success of this survey comes as no surprise. It impeccably reflects their society’s inclusiveness today. With these incredible results in hand, we can confidently stride forward, knowing that everyone at UKG receives fair treatment regardless of their background or identity. Embracing and cultivating diversity in the workplace not only fosters a harmonious and respectful environment for our employees and clients but also ignites creativity, innovation, and productivity within our organization. By embracing the facets that make each of us unique, we can harness our collective knowledge, learn, and grow together.
“[This] makes me proud to be part of UKG. My child Juno (they/them), our incredible Pride leaders and all of you inspire me to do more every day to build a workplace where everyone can feel they belong. I’m just as proud of Juno – for their grades, their passions and their bravery in being who they want to be – despite it being hard sometimes.”

At UKG, we believe in not only celebrating diverse thoughts and perspectives but putting them into action. We knew that by bringing together our unique employees, we could achieve extraordinary outcomes that would make a difference in the world. This belief is at the heart of why we created our employee resource groups (ERGs). Picture this: Vibrant communities within our organization, filled with team members who share a common ethnicity, culture, gender, interests, nationality, or sexual orientation. But here’s the best part — people don’t need to share the exact same identity or experiences to join. Allies are not just welcome but strongly encouraged to join an ERG in support of their colleagues. We firmly believe that diverse perspectives fuel growth and offer alternative insights that benefit everyone.
So, what do these ERGs actually do? Well, they provide amazing professional development opportunities through mentoring, volunteerism, and community involvement. They also offer a platform where people can make a meaningful impact on our business. Everyone’s unique insights and feedback are uniquely valued and cherished, as they help shape the development of our programs, products, and processes. And we haven’t stopped there. At UKG, we know that fostering strong workplace relationships is key to nurturing and empowering diverse talent. That's why we put a spotlight on connection and networking through our ERGs. To show our commitment, we started 2022 with six ERGs, and by the end of the year, we had grown to eight, all to ensure that everyone feels they truly belong in our inclusive workspace.
Guiding principles help create, develop, and maintain a culture that helps people grow and thrive. At UKG, our guiding principles of belonging, equity, and impact are the driving force behind how we care for our people, their families, our customers, partners, and communities. One of our new annual programs is the Belonging, Equity, and Impact + ERG scholarship. It's a program that embodies the spirit of our principles while supporting the dreams of deserving students worldwide. Through this initiative, we proudly provide financial assistance to eligible dependents of employee resource group members, helping them pursue higher education without the burden of expenses. But the impact goes beyond monetary support. It's about recognizing and rewarding students who demonstrate a relentless drive to foster belonging, equity, and impact within their lives and communities. By relieving the worries of financial strain, we empower these students to focus on making a difference in the world. Supporting our U Krew families and reinforcing our commitment to belonging, equity, and impact strengthens the foundation of our incredible work culture. It's a true partnership, creating a space where everyone feels valued and respected.
Since its launch in 2022, the Belonging, Equity, and Impact + ERG scholarship has already made a remarkable impact. We have awarded 10 extraordinary individuals with scholarships worth $2,500 USD each, customizing the amount based on local currency and cost of living. Together, we are shaping a future where belonging, equity, and impact are at the forefront.

It was a momentous day when leaders from our BUILD employee resource group, a champion of inclusion and progress for Black employees across all levels of the organization, gathered with a mission in mind — to provide exposure, visibility, and development opportunities for aspiring U Krewers looking to embark on a career in Sales. They joined forces with three other ERGs — UNIDOS, AsPIRE, and FIRE Up — to launch a three-part upskilling workshop series. In the workshops, attendees discovered the secrets to success from esteemed guest speakers hailing from UKG sales leadership and the prestigious Sistas in Sales organization. Sistas in Sales is a global force dedicated to knowledge sharing, resource building, and creating a tight-knit community of empowered women of color in professional sales careers, set the bar high.
The series covered an array of engaging topics, including an exploration of different sales-related roles, the power of thought leadership, the art of personal branding, and the path to building a rewarding career in sales. Moreover, attendees had the exclusive opportunity to participate in dynamic learning activities and mock interviews, enabling them to leverage their transferable skills and become highly competitive candidates for future sales roles. In this incredible chapter of their journey, the BUILD ERG, along with their amazing collaborators, paved the way for aspiring U Krewers to thrive and succeed in the world of sales.
Early in 2022, more than 110 UKG employees, spread across eight employee resource groups (ERGs), came together to support the Clean the World Foundation and make a difference in the lives of families in need worldwide. In locations as diverse as Saint Louis, Weston, Atlanta, Indianapolis, Lowell, Santa Ana, Maitland, and Seattle, ERG members from UKG's offices united forces. Together, they packaged an impressive total of 800 hygiene kits, each accompanied by inspiring messages with the goal of bringing a glimmer of hope and relief to those facing difficulties. The Clean the World organization repurposes soap and hygiene products from over 8,000 hotel and resort partners to benefit children and families in countries plagued by high death rates due to acute respiratory infections and diarrheal diseases. Pneumonia and cholera in particular continue to claim the lives of countless children younger than 5. Through the distribution of these donated hygiene products, they prevent millions of hygiene-related illnesses and, ultimately, save lives.
“Clean the World provides the ability to deliver basic needs for those who do not have the means to the resources needed for survival and that spoke to the hearts of our site teams across the country,” said Shannon Daugherty, Manager Product Support. “In Saint Louis, we were able to sign up over 30 volunteers to help build our kits for the day of the event. In true UKG fashion where Our Purpose is People, the day of the event we had even more volunteers ready to help beyond what we originally planned for, representing every department in our office. I am beyond proud of our UKG Family.”
UKG volunteers from eight employee resource groups gather to support the Clean the World Foundation.
The profound impact of Clean the World’s mission resonated deeply with UKG employees. Shannon Daugherty, the Manager of Product Support, expressed her heartfelt sentiment. “Clean the World provides the essential necessities for survival to those without the means or resources,” she said. This poignant message struck a chord with UKG’s site teams nationwide. Daugherty continued, “In Saint Louis, we rallied an impressive group of over 30 volunteers, ready and eager to assemble the kits for this special event.” However, the devotion and compassion of the UKG family extended far beyond expectations. Volunteers from every department eagerly joined the cause. Their enthusiasm and dedication are a testament to our core purpose of putting people at the heart of everything we do. Daugherty couldn't be prouder of her UKG Family. This heartwarming tale showcases the power of unity, compassion, and the willingness to lend a helping hand. The efforts of UKG employees, together with Clean the World, have brightened the lives of those in need, spreading hope and happiness worldwide.
After months of careful planning and coordination, the BUILD employee resource group (ERG) launched an exciting new program called #IamValuable. This initiative was created to empower employees, supporting personal, professional, and financial growth along the way. Through a series of captivating workshops, the #IamValuable program offered a vast array of resources and opportunities, unlocking the participants' understanding of their own immense value. These immersive workshops were designed to equip employees with invaluable skills, enabling them to effectively communicate their abilities and celebrate their accomplishments. Of particular importance was the emphasis placed on the power of mentors, sponsors, and coaching, as they played a pivotal role in propelling the advancement of black employees. As the program shed light on the significance of these supportive relationships, its ultimate goal was to cultivate an environment that nurtured the professional growth and success of black employees. And the results were remarkable. Thanks to the dynamic combination of the #IamValuable program and BUILD's renowned mentorship initiative, an astounding 80 promotions were achieved.
Throughout this uplifting journey, the participants had the privilege of hearing from illustrious speakers who shared their wisdom and insights. One of these visionaries was none other than George Acheampong, who captivated the audience with his profound knowledge of wealth strategies and generational prosperity. In a similar vein, Felicia Hatcher, an accomplished executive coach, inspired participants to embrace their passions and leverage their unique strengths, ultimately stepping into their zone of genius. It didn't stop there. The program also offered enlightening professional development workshops, brought to life by UKG's Kristyl Crayton and UKG EVP, Chief Belonging, Equity, and Impact Officer, Brian K. Reaves. Together, they guided participants on a transformative journey of personal branding and building a remarkable talent profile. As part of this process, the concept of establishing a board of directors was introduced, igniting a newfound sense of purpose and direction. And so, with every workshop, every speaker, and every enlightening moment, the #IamValuable program continues to inspire and empower.

Imagine a world where pay equity is not just a dream, but a reality. A world where every person is valued and compensated equally for their contributions. At UKG, we believe in making this vision come true. To ensure the health and welfare of all individuals affected, we have embarked on a mission to close the pay gap and bring about meaningful change. In December 2021, we proudly introduced the UKG Close the Gap Initiative, a multimillion-dollar initiative dedicated to eliminating pay disparities among men, women, and underrepresented groups in the workforce. As part of our commitment, UKG is taking action by contributing $0.18 — the current gender wage gap — for every employee paid through a UKG payroll solution. This investment goes toward supporting programs and organizations fighting for equal pay. And with over 15 million employees benefiting from our payroll solutions each year, we know our impact can be significant. Brian K. Reaves, UKG EVP, Chief Belonging, Equity, and Impact Officer, explains our dedication to this cause: “We believe in equity for all people, in fair and unbiased workplaces. Through the UKG Close the Gap Initiative, we aren’t just seeking change, we’re leading the charge for a more inclusive future.” With this initiative, we are not only funding critical programs and raising awareness, but we have also partnered with organizations at the forefront of the fight for equal economic security. By collaborating with Reboot Representation, Lean In, Grantmakers for Girls of Color, and 9to5, we are empowering women, especially women of color, and other underrepresented groups with increased access to education, career opportunities, and equal pay.
“We refuse to accept that one organization cannot make a difference in the fight for pay equity — just look at what these remarkable women have done with their collective voice to raise awareness on a national stage about a problem that has plagued our workforce for decades. These worthy athletes are also champions on the field of equality. We are so proud to stand beside the NWSL and work toward bringing pay equity to a sport that, for too long unfortunately, reflected the working reality of many women. This partnership is just one of the many actions UKG is taking to raise awareness and encourage action on pay equity across all workplaces and industries.”
And our efforts don't stop there. We recently made history by becoming the first-ever title sponsor of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Challenge Cup. Through this partnership, we significantly increased the Cup bonus pool in 2022, with plans to double it again in 2023. Our goal is to achieve pay equity for NWSL athletes and set an example for the rest of the world. Together, we are writing a new chapter in the story of pay equity, creating workplaces where fairness, empowerment, and opportunity thrive for every individual, regardless of their gender, race, or background.
In early 2022, a remarkable alliance was formed between UKG and Reboot Representation to create a grant that provides opportunities to Black, Latina, and Native American women educators and open doors to become certified in K-12 computer science education. With this grant, teachers embarked on a transformative journey, expanding their horizons and advancing their education. The program held the promise of turning these educators into certified CS teachers within their local schools. As the program took flight in its inaugural year, it welcomed a cohort of 20 teachers. Their collective impact, estimated to reach a staggering 44,000 students over the next two decades, promised to leave an enduring legacy. Let’s dive into the stories of a few extraordinary individuals: Shantel, an educator from Florida, never anticipated her deepening appreciation for Computer Science. But when the Florida Department of Education’s CS Certification Bootcamp beckoned, she couldn't resist its call. "The boot camp was interesting, yet I faced Java again and couldn’t grasp the concept. I pride myself on being a professional student willing to learn and master new things, but programming and understanding code logic was still difficult,” Shantel says, but the way the program was presented and through the mentorship, support, and collaboration of her peers, she persevered and passed the certification test.
“Never have I felt so liberated…This program was the best academic experience I’ve had in a while, and I’d recommend it to anyone,” Shantel said. “Now I can say that I am a certified computer science teacher, and I will use my certification to introduce youth to computer science with the hopes of them gaining a passion for it.”
“I have gone from having a basic understanding of computer science and programming to being able to write basic Java programs on my own! More importantly, the skills, strategies, and resources that I have learned in this CS Education program, I have been able to apply each day in my lessons.” — Ximena Vergara “The CS Education program has been a great experience! I have grown in many areas as a CS educator. My self-confidence in programming in Java has grown tremendously and the pedagogical component has allowed me to dive deeper into teaching and learning.” — Belinda Beckford “I am so thankful that I took the leap and participated in this program. I have learned so much about computer science and have challenged myself in ways I did not think possible. I have so many new tools in my teaching toolbox that I can't wait to share with other teachers and my students!” — Nephtali Beauvais
Shantel M.
“It opened my eyes and mind on how to process the concepts and language of JAVA differently. JAVA was very demanding, but it was exactly what I needed. The resources and references in this program reconnected me to so many innovative programs and best practices. I met great people, and this opportunity from UKG and the University of Florida has been a highlight of my career and educational aspirations.”
B.B.
And then there's BB, a visionary who, thanks to UKG’s scholarship, ventured into uncharted territory. As she embarked on this program, BB immersed herself in a world teeming with brilliant professors, devoted mentors, and like-minded peers. With each passing day, she embraced a wealth of exciting new languages, expanding her repertoire in ways she never thought possible.
The collaboration between UKG and Reboot Representation wove a tale of empowerment, unity, and transformation. It reminded us that education, when coupled with unwavering support and boundless opportunities, can unlock a world of untapped potential. These teachers, armed with their newfound knowledge, stand poised to ignite a passion for computer science in the hearts and minds of countless youngsters, ensuring a brighter future for all.
Fortunately, the program offered a lifeline. Through tailored mentorship, unwavering support, and the collaborative spirit of her peers, Shantel found her stride. With unwavering determination, she conquered the certification test, emerging triumphant on the other side.
UKG and 9to5 may be different organizations, but they have at least one thing in common — a desire to close the wage gap for good. 9to5 is an organization that champions equality for women, ensuring that women’s issues, in particular pay equity, get the attention and action it deserves. UKG and 9to5 teamed up to advocate for, and provide meaningful actions to take, in the fight to close the pay gap. A few ways this is being put into action is in driving web traffic to curated virtual magazines and toolkits, social media campaigns, and calls to action around the Paycheck Fairness Act.
“UKG is one of the only major corporations seeking to raise the visibility of the widespread problem of pay inequity in the U.S. 9to5’s partnership with UKG has been critical in moving the most immediate and vital solutions to the pay gap forward. Their Close the Gap campaign is bringing awareness to pay inequity and the structures and systems that perpetuate the wage gap, while centering on how UKG employees and the UKG community can get informed, take action and make a difference. 9to5 is honored to be working with UKG and their diverse workforce who cares about making an impact as we tackle the wage gap together.”

With a fiery passion for creating a more equal world, the Lean In organization dedicated itself to helping women achieve their wildest aspirations. As fate would have it, our own mission aligned perfectly with theirs. Eager to empower our employees, we embarked on a remarkable collaboration, bringing Lean In’s industry-leading programs on allyship and bias to our very own UKG family. But we wanted our partnership with Lean In to go beyond education within UKG’s walls. We were determined to bring resources to all women across the globe. Thus, our sponsorship of Lean In’s Network Leadership Development Program was born — a transformative, comprehensive 16-week program crafted with women in mind. The program helps women become stronger leaders and focuses on inclusiveness, influence, and building an executive presence. This program cumulatively reaches 100,000 women globally. From the depths of EMEA to the vast landscapes of APAC, the Americas, and even the small corners of countries often overlooked like Benin, Bolivia and Mongolia, this program knew no boundaries. On our journey, we crossed paths with Kifayath Morou, a woman from Lomé in the heart of West Africa’s Tongo, whose spirit radiated resilience and determination.
“Attending the Network Leadership Development Course was a lifetime opportunity for me to benefit from a high level and renowned leadership center. This course gave me a chance to refresh my knowledge on leadership, to redirect and refocus on my Key Leadership Challenge that is to take my business to the next level and have more clients.”

In an endeavor to empower and grant access to education and skill building for girls, femmes, and gender-expansive youth of Color, UKG joined forces with Grantmakers for Girls of Color. Our support spanned eight extraordinary organizations that equip young individuals with internships, leadership development, and the essential tools needed to advocate for themselves in the workplace. These eight organizations are AAPI Women Lead, Fannie Lou Hamer, HEART, IGNITE, Merze Tate, Sister to Sister International, Transgender Resource Center of New Mexico, and Voces en Accion. Each of them played an instrumental role in fostering growth, nurturing talents, and opening doors to a world of possibilities. Among the amazing collaborations was a partnership with Sister to Sister International, where a captivating virtual mentorship program was piloted with UKG’s BUILD ERG. A group of 22 middle- and high-school-aged girls gathered monthly to embark on an inspiring journey of self-discovery. They delved into vital topics like career evaluation, skill acquisition, and the profound impact of mentorship. Additionally, the grant provided direct support to a remarkable program known as VEA, or Voces en Acción/Voices in Action Young Girls of Color Leaders in Indiana. This groundbreaking initiative focused its efforts on girls of color, predominantly Latinas, and other underrepresented young women who often face barriers to STEM and arts programming. Through UKG’s funding, VEA was able to procure an innovative illustration app, enabling students to explore their artistic potential and create stunning projects. Karol Rodríguez, a talented high school graduate, embraced the app's capabilities to complete a children's book that she had been diligently working on. The experience proved to be a turning point for Karol, igniting an unwavering passion for the intersection of arts and science. As a testament to her remarkable journey with VEA, Karol was offered a coveted internship at the prestigious Evansville Museum of Arts, Science, and History. There, she would have the incredible opportunity to work directly alongside the Museum Curator, surging even closer to her aspirations.
UKG's support for our grantee community has provided support for so many girls of Color around the country. Karol is a shining example of what happens when our resources are directed towards the brilliance of girls of Color and we are so grateful to count UKG among our incredible community of coinvestors.

Daniela Benson, a revered VEA leader and ambitious biology and pre-med student at the University of Southern Indiana, was granted a tremendous opportunity. Through the program, she secured an internship that would allow her to shadow a doctor at a renowned Portland hospital during the upcoming summer. This invaluable experience promised to elevate Daniela's career prospects and empower her to inspire other aspiring healthcare professionals within the VEA community. Notably, Daniela also recently ventured into podcasting after participating in an engaging session offered exclusively to a select group of VEA leaders.
The inspiring collaboration between UKG, Grantmakers for Girls of Color, and the remarkable organizations they support exemplifies the profound impact that can be achieved when passionate people come together to create change. Through their unwavering dedication, countless lives have been touched, dreams have been ignited, and a brighter future has been shaped for girls of color and gender-expansive youth worldwide.
In August 2022, multiple employee resource groups (ERGs) joined hands with charitable organizations, all in the spirit of UKG's first-ever multi-site back-to-school drive. The initiative benefitted KidSmart in St. Louis, Missouri, Broward Education Foundation in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the Atlanta Mission in Atlanta, Georgia, and more impactful nonprofit organizations, making a difference in the lives of countless students. Employees from teams across UKG united to collect and distribute school supplies, empowering low-income elementary, middle, and high school students to embark on their educational journey with newfound confidence.
The Sheroes Hangout café, a place of hope and resilience, stands tall amid the challenges faced by acid attack survivors. Within its walls, these brave women unite to rebuild their lives and inspire others with their stories. Operating solely under the guidance of acid attack survivors, this extraordinary café offers more than just a livelihood. It grants the opportunity of reclaiming self-esteem, becoming a beacon of empowerment that shines bright and strong. Founded by the Chhanv Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to rehabilitating survivors, the café becomes a symbol of their tireless efforts. This foundation goes above and beyond to provide medical assistance, legal aid, education, and employment opportunities to these courageous individuals. UKG India and the UKG employee resource group FIRE Up (Female Inclusion Resilience and Excellence) lent a helping hand to the Chhanv Foundation. And in 2022, the UKG India office in Nodia held an awareness session where seven Sheroes and five Heroes from the foundation shared their personal stories of challenge and resilience.

It was a call to action, a call to stand beside these warriors in the battle against this heinous violence that still haunts our society. The Sheroes Hangout café is a testament to the strength and resilience harbored within each survivor, showcasing the sheer determination to rise above adversity. It stands as an emblem of hope, proving that even in the darkest of times, an unwavering spirit can overcome all.
At UKG, we believe in leveraging our platforms and resources to help others. These efforts help us work toward a world that cares for and empowers all people. Our philanthropic efforts are globally inclusive and locally focused, supporting organizations and communities around the globe through donations, matching gifts, and volunteer opportunities. In 2022, we dedicated $6 million to philanthropic initiatives that extend to over 170 nonprofit organizations.
We dedicated $2 million of the total to uplift nonprofits through UKG programs, including the Close the Gap pay equity initiative and belonging, equity, and impact partnerships. From aiding food banks to participating in 5K runs, we wholeheartedly encourage our employees to engage with organizations that hold special meaning for them. By supporting these worthy organizations and programs, we’ll spread positive change and get one step closer to creating a future that is both inclusive and equitable.
Global Pay It Forward Day is an annual worldwide celebration of spreading love, kindness, and compassion that leads to positive change. On April 28, 2022, UKG employees from around the world united to participate in volunteer events, philanthropic projects, and acts of kindness both large and small. One such event took place at a community farm in the Pawtucketville neighborhood in Lowell, Mass. UKG employee Elana Houde volunteered at Mill City Grows Fowler farm, a sprawling four-acre production urban farm. Elana, along with other volunteers, tended to the land by weeding the beds, sowing seeds, harvesting the bounty of nature, and sculpting the landscape with care. “I enjoy the emotional benefit volunteering provides me, which is why I jumped to volunteer with UKG on Global Pay It Forward Day. I was proud to be able to spend my day making a small impact for my local community,” said Elana.
On the anniversary of 9/11 in 2022, U Krewers came together, united in their support for the families, survivors, and selfless first responders, who were all touched by the tragedy that unfolded on that fateful day. This was no ordinary gathering; it was a meaningful partnership between UKG and 9/11 Day, a remarkable nonprofit organization committed to orchestrating special service projects across the nation. 9/11 Day's mission is to combat hunger, a noble cause that touches the lives of many. UKG and 9/11 Day provided meals to families living in New York City and Boston. The stage was set as the action unfolded on board the historic Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, nestled in the heart of New York City. Among the UKG employees who helped pack hundreds of meals on the federally designated September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance was Hannah Daru, UKG Senior Customer Experience Strategist.
In reflecting upon the significance of this event, Hannah said, “I believe that the strength and resilience of a community are intrinsically tied to the genuine care that its members have for one another. Taking part in an occasion like 9/11 Day is our way of showcasing that care, and doing so alongside my U Krew comrades only amplifies the people-centered purpose that our company holds so dear.”

At UKG, we believe in caring for our local communities and improving the lives of the most vulnerable, our children — a belief shared by Big Brothers Big Sisters. Our donations not only help the organization serve more children but also go toward staff salaries so they can provide continuous support. Here are a few stories made possible by our partnership:
“Ms. Lisa has had an amazing impact on my daughter,” said Elizabeth Delgado, Jamilka’s mother. “Jamilka is now more open, smiles often and gets involved in more activities that she otherwise wouldn’t have without Ms. Lisa’s support. She’s not only Jamilka’s Big Sister, she’s also part of our family. I appreciate everything Ms. Lisa and this amazing program has done for us.”
Tyson, a 5th grader at Nova Blanche Elementary, faced academic challenges, but with Jaden's support, their mentorship proved to be transformative. Jaden's unwavering dedication and genuine care for Tyson created a safe and nurturing environment for him. Patient and understanding, Jaden went above and beyond to help Tyson excel in his studies. Whether it was tackling difficult math problems or improving reading comprehension, Jaden patiently guided Tyson, ensuring he grasped the concepts and gained confidence in his abilities. Throughout their mentoring sessions, Jaden displayed an exceptional commitment to Tyson's growth. He never missed a session, providing Tyson with undivided attention and actively listening to his concerns. Jaden's presence alone made Tyson feel secure and valued, fostering a strong bond between them. In a testament to his dedication and potential, Jaden was awarded a scholarship for his postsecondary education through the Big Futures program. This scholarship not only opened doors for Jaden's future but also served as a testament to the profound impact he had made as a mentor. Through their connection, both Jaden and Tyson have grown, paving the way for brighter futures and inspiring others to believe in the power of guidance and support.

Jennifer, a former resident who has moved out, made the decision to keep her child enrolled in the program. It's making a huge positive impact on his grades and self-esteem.
We also have two incredible middle schoolers from our afterschool program who made the November Honor Roll. Their achievements radiated immense pride.
And let's not forget James, who's excelling in his virtual high school classes. He's almost at the end of his first semester and recently aced a biology test with a perfect score!
This is just a small glimpse into the incredible work carried out by Alternative House and the impact they have on countless lives.

In the heart of India, there exists a powerful alliance between UKG and ANK — a beacon of hope and transformation for underprivileged children. Amid the bustling streets of Noida, nestled near the UKG office, lies the ANK Centre. It stands as a guiding light, drawing in migrants from all corners of the country who not just seek an education, but also the chance at a better life. Together, UKG and ANK open the doors to opportunities and sow the seeds of change. Every year, the UKG Learning Center welcomes a group of 120 children, with about 70% being brave young girls. Over 800 children, previously labeled as “Out of School” or in need of “Remedial” education, have found solace within these vibrant walls. And now, almost 400 of them have triumphantly made their way into government schools, their futures forever altered by the power of education. But the partnership between UKG and ANK extends far beyond just classrooms. A library brimming with knowledge, a sports area echoing with laughter, and a computer learning center buzzing with curiosity — they all exist here, nurturing dreams and paving the way to a brighter tomorrow. Even in the face of adversity, such as the recent pandemic, UKG’s supported allowed for over 300 online classes to be conducted, seamlessly transitioning education from physical to virtual realms, allowing these young minds to continue to flourish even in uncertain times. The latest addition, a dedicated computer lab, ignited the “Girls to Code” initiative, empowering them with the skills of the future. When Jeanne Caraglia, Vice President of Engineering at UKG, set foot in the ANK School, her soul was touched by the sheer warmth and enthusiasm that filled the air.
“Visiting the ANK School was one of my favorite things I did while visiting our Noida office. The warm welcome we received from the school included handmade flower necklaces which were placed on us by two students. The teachers were wonderful and the students were so excited to learn, asking us questions, and reciting poetry. Learning about the curriculum they teach the older girls, which enables them to enter the workforce in technology was especially inspiring. I was bursting with pride to represent UKG and am grateful that our company is so committed to the ANK School as it plays sch a crucial role in the education and welfare of these amazing children!”

In times of crisis, when communities need support the most, it becomes even more crucial to give. That’s why at UKG, we believe in year-round philanthropy. We don’t just offer financial aid, but also extend our hands through volunteer efforts across the globe. With our innovative UKG Pro Giving solution, U Krewers have the power to make a direct impact. Through uncapped 100 percent match initiatives, employees can donate to causes that bring relief and support to affected communities. Together, we seek to create a brighter future, one act of kindness at a time. In 2022, U Krewers came together a number of times to make an impact. Here are two of their stories.
Program success stories:
Joey started in middle school and is reporting that he is enjoying it. This is great news since he had previously told YT staff how nervous he was to be in a new school.
Gemma received an award for excellence in P.E. which she was very excited to show off to all her peers in the after-school program.
Jennifer, a resident who has moved out, decided to continue sending her child to program, and he has been doing great; she states the continued stability for him is making such a good impact on his grades and self-esteem.
Two of our afterschool program children made November Honor Roll at their middle school, which they were so proud of.
James has also been doing great in his virtual high school classes and is nearing the end of his first semester. He just got a 100% on a biology test.
In Afghanistan, a tale of resilience unfolds. The people have endured chronic poverty, severe drought, and widespread food insecurity, which has been further exacerbated by the relentless grip of the COVID-19 pandemic. Within this tumultuous backdrop, one of the world's largest and most complex humanitarian emergencies has emerged. Water has become an elusive treasure in these parched lands. Communities struggle with limited access, their hopes diminishing with each passing day. The burdensome journey for water can sometimes span hours of weary travel. However, with the unwavering support of the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP), Concern Afghanistan steps forward as a beacon of light. Their project, “Increasing Access to Water to Mitigate Against COVID-19 and Restore Pandemic-Affected Livelihoods,” takes root in the northeast region, where the devastating impact of the nationwide drought has struck with unyielding force. Through their dedicated efforts, the flow of water in the canal is restored to its pre-pandemic levels. The water scarcity began to disappear, offering relief to the 200,000 members of the community. In addition, 30 water storage ponds were constructed against the roaring floodwaters. These reservoirs safeguard the farms and houses, ensuring their survival and also offer security through peace of mind. United in the face of adversity, these communities find solace in their newfound dual disaster-proofing feature. The tumultuous winds of fate may buffet their lands, but these resilient souls, armed with the power of water, forge ahead, embracing an enigmatic future with hope.
It was a partnership that held great promise. UKG and the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP) joined forces to empower communities, to instill a sense of readiness before the storm clouds gathered. Little did they know that their efforts would soon be put to the test in Puerto Rico. In the face of Hurricane Maria and Hurricane Fiona, the island was brought to its knees. But amid the destruction, there was hope. The CDP embarked on a journey, seeking wisdom from those who knew the true meaning of resilience. They found Taller Salud, a beacon of strength and compassion, a community-based feminist organization. It was here that the concept of “shoe-leather philanthropy” took root. The practice of immersing oneself in the community, walking in their shoes, and learning from those most affected by the storm. Inspired by this profound connection, the organization sprang into action. Their actions spoke volumes. A Community Protection Guide for Emergency Situations was crafted, offering a lifeline in times of crisis. Solar power found its way to key buildings, breathing life back into the darkest hours. Food storage became a lifeline, nourishing bodies and spirits alike. But the story didn’t end there. The Atlantic Hurricane Season Recovery Fund, driven by the indomitable spirit of the CDP, extended its reach. Its guiding light illuminated the path for Fundación de Mujeres en Puerto Rico (FMPR), the first and only women's fund in the ravaged lands whose mission is to uplift and empower those who championed the cause of women, girls, and the non-binary community.
With their grant, underserved, women-led organizations could stand tall once more. Their expertise became a beacon of hope in the midst of the storm. Disaster recovery and preparedness took on a new meaning, fueled by the fire within the hearts of those who refused to be silenced. In the face of adversity, UKG and CDP proved that even in the darkest of times, humanity's spirit could truly rise above.

Each year, UKG employees unite to support local nonprofit organizations and make a difference. From championing the cause of Mothers Against Drunk Driving to aiding the Alzheimer’s Association, we are committed to making an impact. Together, we embark on a journey of hope, fundraising through invigorating walks, energizing 5Ks, thrilling cycling events, and even half marathons. UKG teams rallied in 2022, raising thousands of dollars to fuel ground-breaking research in the quest for cures. These funds serve as beacons, guiding the way towards breakthroughs in the realm of medical research. They hold the power to illuminate the path towards finding cures for life-threatening battles like cancer, Alzheimer's, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, leukemia, and lymphoma.
Every year, Team UKG eagerly gathers for Walk MS. With hearts filled with determination, they lace up their shoes and join forces to support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. As the official presenting sponsor of Walk MS for the past two years, UKG’s commitment has raised a staggering $21,000. Together, we are an unstoppable force, united by the shared mission to change the world for those affected by multiple sclerosis.

No two organizations are alike, but the great ones have something in common — a culture that embraces belonging, equity, and impact not just a moral obligation but as a crucial business imperative. After all, true success for any organization is about more than financial gains. It’s about creating positive change in our workplaces and in our communities. It’s why we seek to partner with our customers to embrace belonging, equity, and impact principles and integrate them into their organizations seamlessly.
and dedication to inspiring excellence in leadership, strategy, and innovation. Together, we orchestrated multiple workshops at the prestigious Senior Living 100 conference. The participants were in for a treat as they left the workshops feeling empowered, armed with strategies to tackle industry-wide challenges related to belonging, equity, and impact. The event not only highlighted the importance of these principles as a business imperative but also provided specific tactics tailored to each company's unique needs. Leading the charge at this event were Brian K. Reaves, UKG's EVP, Chief Belonging, Equity, and Impact Officer, and Michael C. Bush, the CEO of Great Place to Work®. They shared a wealth of experience and wisdom from their personal journeys in transforming companies into great workplaces, celebrated for their vibrant cultures. They conducted thought-provoking workshops that dove into the essence of belonging, equity, and impact, leaving participants with a newfound clarity and determination to make positive changes within their own organizations. One of the participants, Jen Cross, Senior Content Director at Lincoln Healthcare, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, “What an amazing session! It was great to see everyone huddling, collaborating, and tackling the mission statements.” As the event concluded, the impact of UKG and Lincoln Healthcare Group’s collaboration reverberated throughout the senior living industry. Companies were awakened to the immense potential of the role belonging, equity, and impact play in fostering a thriving and inclusive workplace culture. The senior living industry took a step forward, embracing these principles to not only drive business impact but also to create a better, more compassionate world for all.
Senior Living 100
"The key thing for me when you think about driving culture with belonging, equity, and impact is it can't be the side thing — meaning its a nice-to-have — it has to be who you are in your culture."
— Brian K. Reaves EVP, Chief Belonging, Equity, and Impact Officer, UKG
We recently spoke with a few customers to get their thoughts and experiences on partnering with us on journey to creating inclusive workplace cultures. Their words are a testament to the transformative power these principles have on creating positive change.
Another example of how we enable our customers to embrace belonging, equity, and impact principles was in March 2022 when we partnered with Lincoln Healthcare Leadership, a renowned organization known for its exceptional healthcare conferences
At UKG, we have a great opportunity to impact not just our employees but our customers as well. As a human capital and workforce management software company, we partner with our customers to nurture a great workplace where all people can grow. We help organizations with support and resources they need to build inclusive environments where differences are valued, and an innovative spirit can be unlocked. We highlight an amazing example of these efforts in this story. In the summer of 2022, a passionate UKG employee Jeannine Betts set out to create Amplify, a meaningful Belonging, Equity, and Impact event for their valued customers. Collaborating closely with various teams, including UKG Marketing and Accenture, they worked diligently to design an event that would inspire positive change and foster connections among participants. As Amplify kicked off, clients, partners, and UKG team members came together in a spirit of camaraderie and shared purpose. The focus was on creating a safe space for open discussions and exchanging ideas centered around enhancing Belonging, Equity, and Impact practices in the workplace. Jeannine took the stage with humility and enthusiasm, sharing UKG's own belonging, equity, and impact journey, complete with challenges faced and lessons learned. The story served as an inspiring backdrop for the event, encouraging attendees to consider the positive impact of embracing belonging, equity, and impact principles. Throughout the event, attendees engaged in meaningful workshops and participated in panel discussions that highlighted the significance of belonging, equity, and impact as a business imperative.

Featuring Gail Strachan, an expert in equitable workforce strategy design at Accenture, the event focused on:
They explored innovative approaches to cultivate inclusive work environments where each person’s unique perspectives are valued. As the event concluded, the participants left with renewed energy and a sense of purpose. Armed with new insights and ideas, they returned to their respective organizations, ready to champion belonging, equity, and impact initiatives and foster inclusive workplace cultures. Over time, the ripple effect of that summer event extended beyond the boundaries of the gathering. Companies beyond UKG’s immediate circle took note, recognizing the value of prioritizing belonging, equity, and impact. The seeds of change sown in the event continued to flourish, inspiring a more inclusive and compassionate approach to business practices, and reminding us that every step, no matter how small, could lead to positive change and a more united world.
In the dynamic world of business, there exists a puzzling question: why do some companies flourish while others falter? The answer might be a less conventional approach than what is typically taught in business schools – the significance of an inclusive culture that values each individual, regardless of their background or identity. Michael C. Bush, the CEO of Great Place to Work, and Brian K. Reaves, UKG EVP, Chief Belonging, Diversity, and Equity Officer, shared an honest, no-holds-barred discussion about equity in the workplace. Drawing on data and their personal experiences, Michael and Brian discussed how organizations can determine if their workplace is great for all employees — not just some — and what it really takes to create an inclusive culture. They stressed the crucial role of a great culture, one that embraced diversity wholeheartedly. Supported by compelling data, they showcased how inclusive companies outperformed others during challenging times. Their sincerity and personal anecdotes struck a chord with the audience, making the pursuit of inclusivity feel approachable and attainable.

As the event concluded, hope and inspiration lingered in the air. The dialogue surrounding workplace equity had gained momentum, and companies were encouraged to embark on their journeys to fostering inclusive cultures that empower every person and create a more understanding and united world of business for all.
Establishing strong workplace relationships is a vital component of not only keeping and growing diverse talent, but also in achieving business outcomes. UKG’s employee resource groups (ERGs) are communities of U Krewers with common interests who bring their collective voices together to drive innovation, unlock business opportunities, and develop inspiring leaders. ERGs at UKG connect team members who share common ethnicity, culture, gender, interest, nationality, or sexual orientation. We believe that it’s beneficial to both the employees and the organization to expand knowledge and understanding and to offer alternative perspectives. ERGs give team members an opportunity to make a positive impact on our business, as members can provide insight and feedback during the development of programs, products, and processes. In 2022, UKG added two new groups* and closed out the year with a total of eight ERGs with varied focus.
ADAPT (Accessibility and Disability Allies Partner Together), to raise awareness of different abilities.
AsPIRE (Asian and Pacific Islanders Raising Equity), a community where members feel safe, seen, heard, and part of one ohana (family)*.
BUILD (Black U Krewers in Leadership and Development), which fosters inclusion and advancement for Black employees at all levels of the organization.
CARES (Cancer Awareness Resources Education and Support), a support system for those affected by various chronic health conditions, to make sure U Krewers don’t feel alone in their journey.
FIRE UP (Female Inclusion Resilience and Excellence), which cultivates an inclusive and supportive community of change to advance equity for all women.
PRIDE driving inclusion for the LGBTQ+ community and its allies.
UNIDOS (United), supporting the Hispanic/Latinx community and its allies*.
VETS for military veterans, active service members, families, and friends.
When VETS — UKG’s ERG for military veterans, their families and friends, along with colleagues, and supporters of Veterans — explored the opportunity to improve UKG’s military leave policy, they jumped on it. UKG has always abided by the USERRA Act, which protects active service members’ employment status. “But we needed more than that,” said Matt Shand., a UKG employee and UKG VETS ERG member. “After proper analysis and effort, our ERG worked with leadership to alter the company’s military leave policy to extend the paid time away for duty as well as allow access to systems even when on active status.” ERGs like VETS demonstrate the power of people coming together to solve problems, support the community, and make positive changes. Matt and his fellow VETS community are a testament to the powerful impact that ERGs can provide. “I think this program shows what a company can do for its active and reserve service members. It’s so common for service members to hide their service because of employer discrimination, but here we lean into it, and this program is proof of that,” he said. “At UKG, we go above and beyond the USERRA Act, and give our service members peace of mind while they do what needs to be done.” And to further celebrate the VETS, Tiffany Baker, Lead Strategic Alliance Manager, was celebrated in the 2022 Veteran Champions of
the Year in Corporate America list this summer for her support of United States military veterans. Tiffany is a U.S. Marines E-5 Sergeant who founded UKG Vets in 2015 and is one of the leading forces at UKG driving recruitment, hiring, onboarding, retention, and career growth among veterans at UKG and in the military community. She is a shining example of how dedication, empathy, and proactive efforts within an ERG can create a positive and lasting impact on the lives of employees and their communities. We’ll continue to seize every opportunity to celebrate our veterans and their families, especially through our ERGs, which are a key element of our belonging, equity, and impact strategy.
UKG’s ADAPT (Accessibility & Disability Allies Partner Together) ERG raises awareness around different abilities and offers a safe place for employees to get support, engage in open conversation, and drive real change. But ADAPT's impact is not confined to the walls of UKG; it extends far beyond, leaving tangible evidence of their commitment to foster inclusivity. Championing the cause of representation, ADAPT spearheaded a drive for more inclusive advertising, advocating for better portrayal of people with disabilities. Through their unwavering advocacy, they brought people with physical disabilities into the spotlight, featuring them in a powerful commercial that resonated with unity and support within the workplace.
Never tiring in their pursuit of excellence and championing inclusivity, the ADAPT ERG went even further. They continuously provide invaluable accessibility guidance that touches every aspect of UKG's products and operations. They ensure that all internal and customer-facing live events, including our largest annual customer event ASPIRE, are fully accessible with closed captioning, accessible walkways and organization leaving no one behind in the pursuit of knowledge and connection. Their expertise also extends to accessible website designs and marketing materials, ensuring that every creation speaks to and serves all individuals, regardless of ability. These extraordinary efforts have not gone unnoticed. UKG's commitment to disability inclusion earned a perfect score of 100 percent on the Disability:IN Disability Equality Index. This accolade reflects UKG's dedication to creating policies, programs, products and practices that support and empower people with disabilities across the entire business. The story of ADAPT is one of empowerment, collaboration, and unwavering determination to create a world where everyone's unique abilities are celebrated and embraced.
ADAPT members also were instrumental in advocating and championing the selection of adaptive athlete Dan Cnossen, a United States Navy veteran and eight-time Paralympic gold medalist, to be a UKG Brand Ambassador.
For Dan Cnossen, being an ambassador for UKG meant more than just representation; it meant being part of a culture that wholeheartedly embraces a people-first purpose, not just with clients and customers, but with every employee.
Part of our belonging, equity, and impact strategy is to provide thought leadership and best practices in all aspects of our business. It’s especially important that the products we build for our customers and our U Krewers drive positive change and help to build an inclusive and diverse future. At UKG, our team of passionate product developers embarked on a mission to develop a groundbreaking tool called Career Designer. The goal was to create a platform that would empower every single U Krewer to map their own unique career path, opening doors to new possibilities and growth. But to achieve the vision of Career Designer, we had to go beyond the ordinary to ensure it would resonate for all, regardless of background, experiences, or challenges they might face. So, we gathered a special team of advisors – members from all our diverse employee resource groups (ERGs). Our U Krewers from the ERGs brought their authentic selves to the table, sharing their thoughts, experiences, and dreams. The anticipation in the room was palpable. They stressed the importance of fostering strong relationships between managers and employees, a foundation that could lead to growth and advancement.
They served as voices for their communities, and we listened with open hearts and minds. The integration of UKG Learning into Career Designer was another key topic on the agenda. Our U Krewers believed in the power of personalized learning experiences tailored to individual aspirations. They shared stories of how such opportunities could unlock untapped potential and fuel the drive for excellence. With every new conversation the ERG members offered perspectives that we might not have otherwise considered, enriching our understanding and fueling our commitment to inclusivity. After the sessions, the product team returned to the drawing board, armed with a treasure trove of insights from our ERG partners. With dedication and care, we fine-tuned Career Designer to be the tool that would unlock the potential within each and every U Krewer. The success of Career Designer is a testament to the power of collaboration and inclusivity. Our U Krewers from the ERGs played an indispensable role in shaping a product that truly reflected our people-first purpose.
We aim to contribute to a brighter, more positive, and socially responsible future through our robust Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) and social impact programs. When people feel valued, that their job has meaning, and that they belong, their innovative and engaged spirit is unlocked and they’re empowered to tap into their unique talents for the good of themselves and others. Our ESG efforts help us realize our purpose as we work to incorporate ESG criteria in all our processes to make more informed, responsible, and socially conscious decisions. They also help us identify new ways to grow and strengthen our contributions, as well as measure our progress and success. Because our purpose is people, and everything we do is in service of that purpose, we’re uniquely positioned to dial up activities in the social component of ESG.

“Culture should be a positive driver of employee wellbeing, productivity, satisfaction, and retention. How you treat your people will dictate business success and cement your legacy as an organization. UKG is in the business of helping others build workplaces where all people feel valued, heard, respected, trusted, and cared for. We know that this is the foundation for our own success and longevity as a company and ultimately for our customers’ success.”

While searching for internship candidates on LinkedIn, UKG’s Diverse Talent Engagement team came across Chris Jackson – a recent Indiana University Bloomington graduate looking to take the first step in his professional career. The team encouraged Chris to apply to our UKG Internship program and supported him through the process, leading to Chris being accepted as a Sales intern for the Summer of 2022. During the internship, Chris worked closely with managers across Sales, attending various workshops, sitting in on client meetings,
working on the Presales help desk, and even helping to create product playbooks. He led his team to victory in a Sales intern competition by creating a Sales Intern Alumni LinkedIn page, and quickly became known as a Presales superstar. Chris’ creativity, work ethic and passion for Sales made a lasting impression on his manager and peers and caught the attention of U Krewers who support our UKG Sales Academy.
