GREENGUARD Product Certification
VOC Emissions Testing to Global Emissions Standards
Increase value with healthier products and buildings
Indoor air quality (IAQ) has become increasingly important for building owners and occupants in recent years. With more information available to the public on air quality issues—including the potential negative effects of off-gassing and the evaporation of volatile chemicals and other emissions—it is imperative for interior product manufacturers to focus on eliminating issues associated with their products.
Interior Products have a significant impact on indoor air quality and can emit hundreds of chemicals into the air that building occupants breathe. GREENGUARD Certification helps provide assurance that products are low-emitting and contribute to healthier interiors.
There is a growing list of sustainability programs used by the commercial real estate industry to score environmental performance, including LEED®, BREEAM, FITWEL, Greenglobes, WELL, BOMA Best and others. They all address indoor air quality to one degree or another. This common theme is evidence of the importance of the issue as a core component of sustainability, health and wellness in the built environment.

GREENGUARD Certification is an internationally recognized product emissions certification labeling program for manufacturers of low-emitting indoor products, furnishings, and materials. Products can be certified under two
different standards.
Conduct screening tests on representative material samples to determine chemicals of interest and the likelihood of meeting the GREENGUARD criteria.
Conduct certification testing to represent a family of products and demonstrate that your products emit fewer chemicals and contribute to healthier indoor air.
Certification awarded once certification testing is completed, you may upload product listings in the UL SPOT® database to obtain certificates, promote certification, and access marketing and training resources

Maintaining Certification Certified products are tested on a routine basis. The GREENGUARD Certification program is structured to scale with your product line. Our experts help you certify new products prior to market introduction and can help give you insight into how product material changes may affect your certification status.
