BOTOX® Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA)
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
BOTOX® Cosmetic may cause serious side effects that can be life threatening. Get medical help right away if you have any of these problems any time (hours to weeks) after injection of BOTOX® Cosmetic:
Problems swallowing, speaking, or breathing, due to weakening of associated muscles, which can be severe and result in loss of life. You are at the highest risk if these problems are preexisting before injection. Swallowing problems may last for several months.
Spread of toxin effects. The effect of botulinum toxin may affect areas away from the injection site and cause serious symptoms, including loss of strength and all-over muscle weakness, double vision, blurred vision and drooping eyelids, hoarseness or change or loss of voice, trouble saying words clearly, loss of bladder control, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.
BOTOX® Cosmetic dosing units are not the same as, or comparable to, any other botulinum toxin product.
There has not been a confirmed serious case of spread of toxin effect when BOTOX® Cosmetic has been used at the recommended dose to treat frown lines, crow’s feet lines, forehead lines, and/or platysma bands.
BOTOX® Cosmetic may cause loss of strength or general muscle weakness, vision problems, or dizziness within hours to weeks of receiving BOTOX® Cosmetic. If this happens, do not drive a car, operate machinery, or do other dangerous activities.
Serious and/or immediate allergic reactions have been reported, including itching, rash, red itchy welts, wheezing, asthma symptoms, or dizziness or feeling faint. Get medical help right away if you are wheezing or have asthma symptoms, or if you become dizzy or faint.
Do not receive BOTOX® Cosmetic if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in BOTOX® Cosmetic (see Medication Guide for ingredients); had an allergic reaction to any other botulinum toxin product such as Myobloc (rimabotulinumtoxinB), Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA), Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA), Jeuveau (prabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs), Daxxify (daxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm), or Letybo (letibotulinumtoxinA-wlbg); or have a skin infection at the planned injection site. This list may not include all available botulinum toxin products.
Tell your doctor about all your muscle or nerve conditions, such as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, as you may be at increased risk of serious side effects, including difficulty swallowing and difficulty breathing, from standard doses of BOTOX® Cosmetic.
Tell your doctor about all your medical conditions, including surgery or plans to have surgery on your face, trouble raising your eyebrows, drooping eyelids, any other abnormal facial change, are pregnant or plan to become pregnant (it is not known if BOTOX® Cosmetic can harm your unborn baby), or are breastfeeding or plan to (it is not known if BOTOX® Cosmetic passes into breast milk).
Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Using BOTOX® Cosmetic with certain other medicines may cause serious side effects. Do not start any new medicines until you have told your doctor that you have received BOTOX® Cosmetic in the past.
Tell your doctor if you have received any other botulinum toxin product in the last 4 months; have received injections of botulinum toxin such as Myobloc, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau, Daxxify, or Letybo in the past (tell your doctor exactly which product you received); have recently received an antibiotic by injection; take muscle relaxants; take an allergy or cold medicine; take a sleep medicine; or take aspirin-like products or blood thinners.
Other side effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic include dry mouth; discomfort or pain at the injection site; tiredness; headache; neck pain; and eye problems, including double vision, blurred vision, decreased eyesight, drooping eyelids and eyebrows, swelling of eyelids, and dry eyes.

Though she’s proud of these ROIs, so to speak, she never loses sight of how impactful prioritizing herself is in between those career milestones. That foundation first built in therapy allows her to maintain the bones of her portfolio: giving herself what she needs when she needs it ("I love self-care. I'm a Taurus through and through."). But you’ll never catch her lying about mastering balance. "I am a crash out queen," she says. It’s those crash outs that are often a reminder to return to her self-care routine and take time out of her busy schedule for herself.
Oyarzo has been laying the bricks of her portfolio for years, but her self-care commitments extend beyond mental health care, too. For a few years, that included BOTOX® Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) consultations, with the goal of temporarily improving the look of her moderate to severe crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead lines. After enough of her friends had shared their experiences, Oyarzo thought it would be worth exploring her options. "I did my research and felt like [a consultation] was the right choice for me,” she says, adding that her lines have been less noticeable. "Maybe some people might say that's vain, but the reality is my job is on camera.”
Her meditation ritual costs next to nothing, but Oyarzo’s portfolio wasn’t built without spending some actual money. Not long after moving to LA, Oyarzo spent $500 on a media training bootcamp, all in the name of making her dream come true of becoming a TV host. She weighed her options: use $500 to go toward rent or spend it on the intensive hosting course with the hope of a high return rate? Spoiler alert: it paid off. The success of that investment only emboldened her. And now, her newest risk is potentially her biggest commitment yet: her podcast, "Similarly Different." "I know that's my purpose, I know that's a stepping stone that's monumental to where I'm supposed to go, so I'm going to do it," she says. "And every time I've invested in my podcast, I've gotten good results from it."
Some days, self-care looks like a cosmetic consultation, and other days, it looks like checking in on a friend you haven’t spoken to for a while. "If I haven't seen a friend that I normally see and it’s been three weeks, I mark it in my calendar," she says. There’s a good chance their absence is like a silent call to action — they might need a friend at that moment more than ever.
Everything else in her portfolio maycome and go, but it’s her girlfriendsthat have remained a constant. "They've cheered me on, they've helped me open doors," she says. They’ve paved a road of nonjudgemental support that Oyarzo can’t help but partially credit for her personal evolution. Her portfolio says it all.
always been this way — "since she was little," the podcast and TV host tells Popsugar. "There’s a good sense of rebellion in me and it’s kind of made me who I am because I’ve never let other people tell me who I am.” Oyarzo’s specific brand of faith makes investing in herself, even when it’s inconvenient, a no-brainer.

No one knows what’s best for Yanina Oyarzo like Yanina Oyarzo. Investment portfolios are typically synonymous with things like stock options and high-yield savings accounts, but Oyarzo’s is less about cashing in and more about protecting her peace. Though she’s learned that oftentimes a littlebit of discomfort comes along with it. "There's no way you're going to be comfortable andbe able to continue to grow and be the personthat you ultimately want to be," she says. Being uncomfortable is just a part of the process.
Take her meditation practice, for example. It’s been one of the fastest growing health trends for over five years, but sticking to it is one of life’s great challenges — even with an app featuring a breathy voiceover and three-minute countdown clock. It’s sitting in the stillness, the discomfort, that helps Oyarzo take the risks she’s known to take.

The relationships Oyarzo has with the women in her life are perhaps the most rewarding investment she makes on a regular basis. And she’s learned a lot in therapy about managing them amid her busy lifestyle. "Your friendships should be an onion: there's friends that are going to be in layer one and there's friends that are going to be in layer three, and layer five, and layer seven," she explains. The point is to meet the people she loves where they are, so they can stay connected and fill each other’s cups.
"I believe in it. There is a high, there is a holy spirit, there is an assuredness when I am on that set speaking to another human that nothing else can give me."

*Full results in 30 days. In two clinical trials, a majority of patients reported they were “mostly or very satisfied” with their overall treatment results at Day 60. In addition, these patients reported the same responses for the natural-looking result of treatment for their frown and forehead lines. In a 2022 survey, a majority of respondents treated for their crow’s feet lines said they “completely or somewhat agree” that BOTOX® Cosmetic provides natural-looking results.
