Aggie STEM
Aggie STEM Summer Camps (ASSC) provide students real-world experiences in STEM education through engagement in STEM Project-Based Learning alongside a world-class university experience guided by Texas A&M University professors in STEM fields.
Students participate in a variety of integrated non-credit STEM activities developed in collaboration with multiple colleges across the university while also building social and study structures that facilitate success during their stay at camp and in their future STEM careers. During the Gaddis Girls and EmpowHERing STEM Online Summer Camps, 54 female students from across the nation had the opportunity to engage in multiple hands-on STEM activities. Students constructed furniture (as seen in the picture), learned programming with microcontrollers, designed an adaptable playground, created a healthy meal plan, and so much more!
Art Reaching Out
Art Reaching Out is a Dallas-based nonprofit whose purpose is to involve students in creating art glass installations using STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math)
HTHH first funded curriculum development for Art Reaching Out illustrating how thermodynamics, electromagnetism, chemistry, optics, wave mechanics, mathematical analysis, and material science apply to making art glass for a Dallas-based Young Women Preparatory Network’s high school girls' summer camp. The second grant extends the opportunity to high school girls in Ft. Worth.
The HTHH-supported 4-day experience combines scientific experimentation and discovery with the creation of individual hot glass pieces and a group fine art installation. The first HTHH grant allowed Art Reaching Out to hire an AP high school science teacher to develop engaging, interesting and timeless hands-on lessons to bring scientific principles behind glassblowing to life.
Lesson plans, experiments and student workbooks are available to share. The second grant generously funded the entire 4-day experience. Art Reaching Out is prepared and excited to deliver this camp as soon as COVID restrictions are lifted for in-person learning.
Design Connect Create
Design Connect Create helps girls realize the potential in Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and themselves.
The founders of HTHH were the women who came up with the idea of offering a summer camp to introduce girls to physics so that they would be better prepared and more inspired to an AP Physics class in high school.
Through grants from HTHH starting in 2015, DCC has been able to scale the physics camps to reach more girls in school districts in the North Texas area. HTHH has also enlisted guest speakers to share their career path with the camp participants

Friends of Solar Preparatory School for Girls
Friends of Solar Prep is a volunteer 501(c)3 nonprofit organization led by a board of parents and community leaders who work to ensure every Solar Prep student has equal access to educational opportunities to realize their full potential.
Early STEM education in young girls is critical to increasing the pipeline of women scientists, engineers and future changemakers. With the resources that the High-Tech High Heels grant provides, we can remove barriers that so many girls face, empowering them to lead in the innovations they can bring to the world.
The High-Tech High Heels grant has enabled our Solar Prep girls to reach higher academic standards in the classroom. Because of the generous grant, 100% of our scholars were able to engage in STEAM activities despite the limitations this year brought. This past year, due to COVID-19, it was necessary for each student to have their own personal supply of materials for daily activities and projects. We were able to purchase enough STEAM supplies such as popsicle sticks, rubber bands, hot glue sticks, tool kits, 3D pens and filament, yarn, tape, paint, and much more.
The GEMS Camp
The mission of The GEMS Camp is to change the face of those who can access and excel in STEM studies and careers.
There are not enough words to express our gratitude for High Tech High Heels and the members' commitment to supporting girls in STEM. Grant funds awarded by the High Tech High Heels Foundation allowed us to grow from 33 campers in 2019 to 52 campers in 2021 despite the pandemic. Specifically, we were able to convert our in-person program to a virtual e-Camp, where girls received bling boxes delivered to their front doors and included STEM learning supplies, an interactive workbook, and extracurricular resources for social-emotional support activities.
The GEMS Camp
Participant Spotlight: Belinda Rivera, San Antonio, TX
The GEMS Camp has changed my life since I started participating in 2020 during the pandemic. From the time I received my bling box in the mail last summer to participating in person this summer at UNT Dallas, I have felt more confident in my math and science abilities, and I am more confident in my overall self. I love the many opportunities I get to try with The GEMS Camp and all of the women speakers that I am exposed to. During the school year, GEMS provided me with a private tutor from Texas Instruments who helped me with all of my subjects and mentored me while I was a virtual student this past school year. I love The GEMS Camp and all of the staff!
From The GEMS Camp: In 2021, we were awarded our third grant to fund a part-time Program Coordinator position. This person was instrumental in our expansion efforts for 2021 programming as we grew from 52 campers to 92 servicing girls from Dallas-Fort Worth, Lubbock, Austin, Houston, and El Paso through two summer experiences.

Our nation is losing young women from the STEM pipeline early and at an alarming rate. This greatly limits their career opportunities, and, if the leak is not fixed, will leave a gaping hole in the U.S. STEM talent pool.
DID YOU KNOW:
Women earn 57% of all bachelors degrees but make up only 19.9% of the computer science and engineering degrees.
DID YOU KNOW:
4 in 5 STEM college students said they decided their field of study in high school or earlier. Only 12 of 100 female college graduates earn a degree in STEM.
Thanks to the funding from High Tech High Heels, Aggie STEM was able to develop a specific curriculum focused on empowering young women to pursue STEM careers. Funding from High Tech High Heels also provided partial scholarships to 38 female students, ensuring that these participants could receive a world-class experience without a financial barrier. Without the additional support, Aggie STEM would not have been
able to allocate the funds necessary to close the gender gap in STEM or provide exposure to the multiple opportunities Texas A&M has to offer encouraging more women to think about STEM careers!
and connected us with companies such as Texas Instruments and Bell Flight to host a visit to local high-tech companies.
In the winter of 2017, the HTHH grant provided additional equipment to enable us to offer two camps concurrently so that we could reach more girls. In the winter of 2019 HTHH supported our effort to modify our curriculum to deliver an on-line version of the camp. In the winter of 2020 HTHH supported the curriculum for a new a coding camp the summer of 2021 that has reached more than 80 girls this summer.
Without the HTHH funding and the emergency grant, we would have had to close our doors for Summer 2020.
Program involvement in The GEMS Camp helps minority girls counteract isolation, idleness, and other potentially harmful at-risk behaviors as a result of the pandemic’s shutdown. Our whole-child approach responds to the unique set of individual, family, and community factors that can distract these girls away from their studies and aspirations. In 2021, 5 of 7 tracked 7th graders from 2014 graduated from high school and have declared STEM majors including biology, chemistry, and aerospace engineering.
As a result, The GEMS Camp has increased funding by over 200% in six months (January - June 2021).
We are forever indebted to the HTHH Foundation and the instrumental role the organization has played in advancing The GEMS Camp's mission and purpose to equip underrepresented and underserved girls, specifically Black and Latina in the U.S., with the confidence, leadership skills, academic ability to successfully pursue studies and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

PreFlight Aviation Camp
PreFlight is a 501c3 nonprofit, that provides a six-day overnight camp and mentorship program for girls, ages 11-14. We use aviation to build girls’ self-esteem, empower them to reach their goals, and inspire the next generation of pilots.
Sci-Tech Discovery Center
Our mission is to promote dynamic educational experiences that inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to embrace discovery and innovation through the active exploration of science, technology, engineering and math.
If a girl participates in Girl Power, she is immersed in hands-on, innovative, STEM education which is designed to give her the confidence and desire to explore a STEM career pathway in high school and beyond.
Thanks to the funding provided by HTHH, Sci-Tech was able to deliver Girl Power to 5th and 6th grade girls at DISD’s School for the Talented and Gifted at Pleasant Grove. Our goal was to introduce girls to STEM concepts and careers that utilize STEM skills. In this class, the girls were particularly interested in the Robotics unit. At first, they recognized them as toys, as some of them had played with robots outside of school.
However, they were completely surprised to discover that they could program these robots themselves, and quickly picked up how to code! Some of their feedback was that they thought only the older students could do “real robotics,” and that they didn’t realize they could also do it. They were very proud when they realized they had become Coders! We led discussions on where and why we use robots in our lives, and they were thrilled to learn all the ways a robotics programmer actually affects their daily lives. Girls asked if they could do this as a career, and we excitedly told them yes! The overall take away was that girls crossed from being consumers playing with a toy, to being programmers who problem solved coding robots.
UTD G.I.R.L.S Symposium
The G.I.R.L.S. Symposium is a great opportunity for girls to get introduced to various STEM degrees at an early age.
The G.I.R.L.S. Symposium is a great opportunity for girls to get introduced to various STEM degrees at an early age. Research has found that students are making decisions about their college future as early as middle school. Our program is designed to provide girls the confidence and knowledge they need to consider a career in STEM. During the event, attendees not only learn through hands on activities, but they also get to meet and network with women working in STEM careers.
Through the grant provided by HTHH, this program has been able to reach a wide range of middle school girls by offering funding for busses to allow groups of girls to come from schools that may not be close to campus. The grant also allows us to offer technology tools such as Arduino boards and other fun tech tools in the form of prizes to students so they can continue to explore their interests even after the camp. As one participant stated, “It showed me that IT was different then what i thought, which was IT only deals with computers and coding. Now I know it much broader than that. I honestly wasn’t too sure about what ITS was before this event, and I didn’t think it could be something fun that I’d enjoy, but I realized that it can be quite fun!”

Young Women's Preparatory Network
Young Women’s Preparatory Network’s mission is to support single-gender, college-preparatory, public education in Texas and beyond, giving young women the academic and leadership skills to achieve success in college and in life.
We believe in providing underserved, highly-deserving girls with a rigorous, STEM-focused education to prepare them for a better future. You have helped us fulfill our mission.
Through your generous donation to YWPN, HTHH has taught more than 500 young women a year to code. In 28 classes across the state, these bright students have created nearly 8,000 successful programs. By giving YWPN schools access to a state-of-the-science programming platform known as “VIDCODE”, HTHH has given our students invaluable exposure to computer science and, thus, experience and confidence that can change their trajectory. HTHH made this enriching program that is usually not an option for students in public school systems, happen for the girls of YWPN.
