"We shot at RMB Catterick, which was where the first Military Wives choir was formed. The base supplied specific uniforms, vehicles, locations and advice. We used serving soldiers and their families as extras, and the location for Kate’s house was the actual setting for the first-ever Military Wives Choir meeting in 2010."

Director of "Military Wives"
Rustique, a fabulous bistro restaurant just off Richmond's market square, will transport you straight to the backstreets of Paris, while The Punch Bowl offers tasty gastropub fare in the pretty village of Low Row. Coghlans Tearoom, part of the 7000-acre Barningham Park Estate, is a pretty destination for traditional afternoon tea with finger sandwiches, cakes and scones, served on vintage china.

Almscliffe Crag is a well-known beauty spot near Harrogate and is the setting for one of the most emotional scenes in the film, when the wives get back to nature.
The crag was selected by the location team
as the perfect setting in which to portray the camaraderie of the wives. The team also wanted the location to be clearly identifiable as being in Yorkshire, and the landmark’s popularity with hikers and ramblers made Almscliffe Crag an easy choice.
This circular walking route, accessible from
the village of North Rigton, with its stone cottages, takes you up the slopes of Wharfe Valley and back, and grants you excellent views of the valley.
Explore one of Yorkshire’s most outstanding castles, founded just four years after the Battle of Hastings.
Watch a show at the Georgian Theatre Royal, the oldest surviving Georgian playhouse in the country.
Take time to explore The Station, a fantastic community hub with gallery space, a cafe,
an independent cinema, a bakery, an ice cream parlour, a microbrewery and more.
Head to the Turkish Baths -- after all, it was the baths that put Harrogate on the map in Victorian times.
Brimham Rocks is a National Trust site of unusual
30-foot-high rock formations, formed over 320 million years ago. They have names like the Sphinx, the Watchdog and the Camel, that allude to their strange appearance and presence.
Enjoy a day out at RHS Harlow Carr, a real showcase of horticultural excellence all year round. It also has
a children’s play area, a café, daily events and workshops, and a fabulous garden centre and nursery attached.
The Crown Hotel in the centre of Harrogate combines beautiful surroundings with a storied past and luxurious facilities. The Cedar Court hotel combines convenience and luxury, and has a central location overlooking The Stray, 200 acres of pretty parkland close to the centre of town. A more regal option is Goldsborough Hall, which offers a grand setting steeped in history -- it was once the home of Princess Mary -- and is surrounded by beautiful grounds.

Where was "Military Wives" filmed?
The life of a military wife can be thankless. Separated from loved ones and staring down the barrel of anxiety and loneliness,
their quiet bravery and sacrifice unnoticed while they live with
the dread of a fateful knock on the door.
But Kate (Kristin Scott Thomas), the perfect officer’s wife,
bears it all with grace and stoicism. She finds freedom in song;
and persuades a disparate group of women on the base to form the Military Wives Choir. Initially sceptical and embarrassed by such an amateur bunch, newcomer Lisa (Sharon Horgan), a rebel and rocker to the core, is quickly transformed by the choir’s friendship, humour and courage.
Finding their voice together, Kate, Lisa and the choir put aside their own personal differences and, by belting out pop hits and rock anthems, this extraordinary group of women sing their hearts out, bringing joy, hope and strength to the world!
"Military Wives" is in cinemas March 6th 2020, starring BAFTA®-Winner Kristin Scott Thomas (Darkest Hour) and BAFTA® Nominee Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe) and is directed by Oscar® Nominee Peter Cattaneo (The Full Monty).
