eHow is full of hobby enthusiasts: 91% of respondents have a hobby they currently focus on Hobbies are aspirational: 85% of people who didn’t have a hobby felt they were missing out Psychological benefits: 71% of respondents said they achieve a sense of accomplishment from their hobby, and 57% said it helps manage stress and anxiety Hobbies connect people: 55% said they share their hobby with a friend or loved one
41% of people said they spent more time on their hobby in the past year, and 37% improved their knowledge skills during that time The most popular hobbies in the past year were cooking (50%), reading (48%) and crafting (39%) Uptick in organizing as a hobby: 22% said they picked up home organization during the pandemic
Nearly two-thirds of respondents (65%) are interested in finding a hobby over the next 6 months Green Thumb spirit: Nearly half of readers (49%) want to learn more about gardening in the next 6 months Other popular categories were crafting (44%), cooking (39%), sewing (35%) and organizing (33%)
