I was impressed with everything, given the fact that the entire state of Iowa was hit by a major storm. Even the first phone call I made to the 800 number was answered quickly and I was told exactly who I would be working with. Then I was given explicit information about the fact that an outside adjuster would be contacting me, and the name of that outside company. The outside adjuster was very friendly and gave me a reasonable expectation of when he would be able to look at our property. He arrived on time and was very friendly, experienced and helpful. Then the inside West Bend adjuster handling the damage unrelated to the structure was very professional, helpful, and friendly as well. It was an impressive experience in every way.

Until August 2020, most of us had never even heard the word, much less knew the power and destruction it could cause. But destroy it did as this powerful storm tore through 770 miles of farmland and city neighborhoods throughout Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Described as an inland hurricane and arriving with very little warning, this derecho (pronounced deh-REY-cho) produced sustained winds of 60-75 mph and gusts of more than 100 mph for a duration of 14 hours.
This storm is yet another “unprecedented” event in a year filled with unprecedented events. What’s not unprecedented is the way West Bend associates stepped up to help our customers in need. From Service Center associates who staffed the phones ... to the claim reps who traveled to assess damage and provide reassurance ... to the associates who put aside their own jobs to help distressed policyholders in an effort to alleviate the burden on their coworkers. All of them, and others, truly stepped up to do their best in what certainly seems to be the worst of times.
