Just the Support You Need
As a military child and spouse of veterans, Aundray Collins knows that supporting a veteran often means balancing many responsibilities at once.
Community Matters
Navy veterans Randy and Jackie Price have spent years supporting one another through life's challenges.
"There are so many things you carry mentally and emotionally that people outside of this life don't always fully understand – and that can get heavy," says Courtney, whose husband is a veteran.
"Wounded Warrior Project gave me connection and a sense of community that reminds me I’m not doing this alone,” she says.
When she registered with WWP, Courtney found more than she ever expected.
For Courtney, those connections have strengthened her ability to support the warrior in her life. "It’s made a difference in how I show up every day. When I feel supported, I'm stronger, more patient, and more present for my warrior."
"Family support members and caregivers wear a lot of hats in addition to helping our warriors navigate life,” she says. “We’re also often the first to notice changes or challenges with our warrior.”
Having a resource to turn to for support is invaluable.
“You don’t always know what you need until you need it,” she adds. “Knowing Wounded Warrior Project is there brings a sense of comfort. Whether it's support for me, my family, or my warrior, I know I don't have to figure it out alone."
“No one succeeds alone. Behind many successful service members and veterans is someone who has been quietly supporting, encouraging, and sacrificing along the way,” says Randy.
Today, Randy serves as a Family Support Peer Leader, helping connect veterans, caregivers, and family members with others who understand their experiences.
"Loved ones need support just as much as the people they care about," he says. "Wounded Warrior Project has helped create that community and remind families they are not alone."
