Explanation: UBS Evidence Lab used data from its Market Thinking Game with responses from nearly 60 institutional investors. Overall, 28% believe growth in spending on ESG data will exceed +10% year on year, while another 47% estimate growth to between +5% y/y and +10% y/y. Only 19% of respondents were more neutral on the opportunity (indicating -5% y/y to +5% y/y), while 5% believed growth would be negative (between -5% y/y and -10% y/y). Taken together, the implied weighted average growth rate over the next 5 years was slightly above ~7% per year.
The Market Thinking Game reflects what respondents believe their peers expect, (rather than respondents' own forecasts) on growth for ESG spending.
Most investors expect growth of +5% or more.
