A vision for the future of insights
The idea is born
Steve Phillips came up with the idea for end-to-end research automation over a glass of wine in his garden. The vision was clear: Use technology to automate the slower parts of market research to make it faster and more affordable for brands to get closer to their consumers.

2013
Zappi wins at IIEX
Our platform won GreenBook’s Insight Innovation Competition at IIeX, beating 40 other competitors, for its ability to automate consumer research in a fraction of the time and at a fraction of the cost.
2013
First project is launched
The first project was launched on the platform (an ad test run by EE). As we continued to run more research through the platform, we turned a project that would typically cost $15-20K and take 4-6 weeks with a full-service agency into something that cost $2K and is done within a day.

Zappi & Intellection merge
ZappiStore and Intellection Software merged to bring platform technology and expertise together in one great company.

Prime Ventures invests
Prime Ventures invested in Zappi in Series A funding round.
2014
A partnership is established
We partnered with several Kantar businesses to automate their research methodologies.

From Zappistore to Zappi
We dropped the “store” to become just Zappi. Now that traditional research has been automated, it was time to turn our attention to creating better research solutions that brands use to create ads and products people love.

Cipio invests
The Insights Alliance is formed
Cipio invested in Zappi.
2019
Zappi, PepsiCo and several other leading companies founded the Insights Alliance;
a partnership with the aim of charting the future of the insights industry. Together we work to build new best-in-class solutions fit for the rapidly evolving landscape.

A true enterprise platform
The platform functionality matured to support large enterprises in making it easy for them to run consistent research across their business, connecting, storing, theming and learning from all they do to create an ongoing cycle of improvement.

Zappi X is founded
We founded Zappi X, its autonomous R&D unit, to accelerate and broaden its horizons through technological innovation.
2021
A groundbreaking ad system
1 billion data points
We launched our new Amplify Ad System to optimize and validate advertising from ideas to final executions. As a solution that’s 60% more predictive of in-market outcomes than traditional alternatives, this marked the beginning of our new best-in-class solutions era. Amplify has helped PepsiCo improve overall creative effectiveness by 30%.
We hit 1 billion data points in the Zappi platform. What a milestone!

$170 million in funding
We became a B Corp, cementing our commitment to the environment, our people and our communities.
Sumeru Equity Partners invested $170m in Zappi, committing to partner with us in our journey into the future.

Today, Zappi is the research platform of choice for many of the world’s leading brands, and our vision to provide actionable consumer insights to inspire, optimize and validate advertising and innovation from ideas to final ads and products has been realized.

It will be easier than ever to find the right solution, launch surveys, find the insights and learn across everything our customers do. Companies will continuously be inspired by a wealth of consumer insights from within and outside their category, general consumer sentiment and trends.
Organizations will become truly customer centric. Insights will be democratized, with anyone in the business being able to access insights on demand. Marketing teams will launch research and act upon insights in a matter of hours. Insights teams will sit above the data bringing consumer empathy and longitudinal view to the strategy and big decisions.
We will continue to inspire, optimize and validate thinking and provide brands with predictive power to act with confidence.
