The survey results indicated that most companies (50.7%) did not have a plan for how they were going to bring their workers back to the office safely. Responses suggest that some companies (20.3%) may have a plan or are currently working on creating a plan that may not yet be shared with employees. 67.8% of respondents said that they need more educational material on how to return their employees to the office safely, followed by a need for products that could enhance social distancing within the office.

Shared Solutions
Solution one: Physical Space Changes
Employers are planning on increasing the space between individuals in the office by: 1. Reconfiguring workstations in a way where individuals are not facing each other. 2. Increasing the height of partitions between workstations.
Solution two: Cleaning Protocol Changes
Employers are planning on improving the cleaning protocols of the office by: 1. Hiring a professional company to deep clean the office before employees return. 2. Hiring a company to provide daily office cleaning and sanitation. 3. Providing sanitation stations and encouraging employees to maintain their individual workstations.
Solution three: Personnel Changes
Employers are planning on reducing the density of employees in the office at a time by: 1. Phasing which employees return to the office and which continue to work from home. 2. Providing a choice for employees to work out of the office on certain days and work from home on certain days. 3. Creating shifts for when employees can work in the office.

JC White’s Workplace Strategist conducted a survey to see what the social sentiment is on returning to the workplace after stay-at-home orders have been lifted. Respondents were both client and non-client individuals from a variety of industries and locals. The results of the survey suggests that most individuals (81.1%) worked from home during the stay-at-home order regardless of their industry being considered an essential business. More than half (53.6%) of the individuals surveyed said they are ready to return to the office once stay-at-home orders are lifted. The top concerns of those who are not ready (46.4% of respondents) to return to the office are a lack of trust that the risk of infection is diminished, an asymptomatic coworker working in the building, and the current cleaning protocols of their office. Of those, updated office policies and procedures and a reduction in the number of COVID-19 cases were identified as top requirements to making individuals feel more comfortable in returning to the office.
Most respondents felt that working in the office had more benefit to them because they value human interaction, collaboration, and having a dedicated workstation.

We asked those who had a return to the office plan in place to share what they are doing. Below you can find the top changes being made by those who responded. These solutions are intended to be implemented in combination and not independantly of one another.
Solution Four: Procedural Changes
Employers are planning on changing procedures for both employees and visitors by: 1. Outside visitors will not be permitted. 2. Group meetings will be limited. 3. Door remains locked, visitors are required to make an appointment. 4. Travel is not permitted.
Solution Five: Technology Changes
Employers are planning incorporating technology to reduce infection spread and work more efficiently by: 1. Using infrared scanners that show if someone has a fever when they enter the building. 2. Investing in technology that makes remote work more efficient. 3. Adding webcams to each workstation so face to face meeting can occur while being physically separated.

Office Retrofit
This page contains products that can be used to retrofit your offices to comply with social distancing guidelines.
The new standard for workplace furniture calls for products made of materials that are easy to sanitize, while also matching the design aesthetic of the space. Clarus glass products answer the call beautifully. Due to the non-porous and antimicrobial properties of glass, our hard surfaces can be wiped clean of all germs and bacteria with bleach or other harsh chemicals without damaging the integrity of the product. Plexiglass, acrylic, traditional whiteboards, and other laminate surfaces are porous, making them a breeding ground for bacteria. While these materials may be hard to clean thoroughly, glass sets the standard for cleanliness.
