Scenic waterfalls and springs. Nature trails. Historical sites. Vibrating dance halls. A romp through Texas Hill Country is a blast any time of the year. In Spicewood, Krause Springs offers a tropical oasis — and it’s the perfect place to cool off from the Texas heat. With 32 springs and a natural pool that flows into Lake Travis, there are plenty of places to dip in the 68-degree water. Thrill-seekers love jumping from a cypress tree rope swing into the crisp, cool water, then catching their breath with a picnic in the butterfly garden. An hour southwest of Spicewood sits the charming town of Fredericksburg, where antique stores and a brewery influenced by the town’s German heritage welcome you to Main Street. Stroll through town before exploring the country’s largest wildflower farm, Wildseed Farms, or sit down for a tasting at the Heath Wine Estate, home of Heath Sparkling Wines and Grape Creek Vineyards. A tram ride whisks you through the working vineyards and a working barrel room where you can sip your way through a wine flight from the Grape Creek collection. When it’s time to refuel, Sage Restaurant and Lounge serves artfully plated dishes that celebrate the bounty of Texas with options like Gulf shrimp and local beef tenderloin. Just 15 minutes from Fredericksburg, Luckenbach bustles on weekends with its historic dance hall, an old-fashioned general store, and 500-year-old oak trees. Art and history buffs can explore The Museum of Western Art in Kerrville (33 miles from Luckenbach), while outdoor enthusiasts take a hike or bike ride along the winding Guadalupe River. If you prefer, you can also float down the river via inner tube with Rockin' R River Rides in New Braunfels.

Smoky Mountains Playlist:
Any great road trip through the Smokies begins in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, the gateway to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Whether exploring the Smokies on foot with a day hike to Clingmans Dome (the highest point in the state) or from the water on a kayak excursion, the folks at Smoky Mountain Guides offer several adventures that bring America’s most-visited national park to life. Keep an eye out for the mourning doves, Eastern meadowlarks, deer, and elk that call the park home, especially when visiting Cades Cove, a foliage-filled valley and one of the most popular spots inside the park. Drive the 11-mile Cades Cove Loop Road for glimpses of an 80-foot waterfall and an array of historic buildings belonging to early settlers. During warmer months, you can rock the region’s rapids with the guides at Rafting in the Smokies. Of course, nothing says Tennessee like Dolly Parton, which makes a trip to her famous Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge a rollicking, roller coaster-riding, string-plucking, must-do. From the folksy entertainment to the thrill rides, it’s the perfect place to explore Appalachian culture, including glassblowing and blacksmithing demonstrations by master craftspeople. Head north seven miles to Parton’s hometown of Sevierville. A walk through the historic district is like a step back in time with saloons, quirky shops, and homey cafes. Pop into The Pines for a cold drink and a game of duckpin bowling. For a fine-dining experience of buffalo frog legs, fried green tomatoes, and other signature Southern eats, pay a visit to The Appalachian, known for its fresh Tennessee farm-to-fork cuisine.

Pocono Mountains Playlist:
Explore the region in open-air fashion with the Poconos Historic Trolley Tour, which rolls through Delaware Water Gap and the surrounding area.
TRIP Tip:
Kick off your trip through the Poconos with a visit to historic Milford, Pennsylvania, considered the birthplace of the American Conservation Movement for hosting the first head of the U.S. Forest Service. To learn more about this piece of the Poconos’ history, take a self-guided tour of the mansion and gardens at Grey Towers National Historic Site (once the home of the first chief of the U.S. Forest Service, Gifford Pinchot) before checking out the sidewalk shops and cafes in town. Approximately 20 miles down the road, don’t miss Bushkill Falls, a series of eight seasonal waterfalls surrounded by trails complete with boardwalks and stairs, making it easy for even the youngest travelers to enjoy the sublime surroundings. In nearby Delaware Water Gap, discover the region’s legacy of hospitality at the Antoine Dutot Museum & Gallery, named after the pioneer who built the first of many grand resorts with the heart-shaped tubs that made the Poconos famous. Tucked inside a redbrick schoolhouse that was used for nearly 100 years, it details the lavish history of the area with artifacts from the town’s heyday and an art gallery featuring works by local artists. Once you’re familiar with the legacy of the Poconos, it’s time for some active adventures. The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area encompasses 40 miles surrounding the Delaware River. Whether on a hiking trail or a scenic drive, it’s easy to see why the Poconos have lured vacationers for hundreds of years. Hardwood forest trails lead to seasonal waterfalls, and the river itself is the perfect spot for canoeing, fishing, and swimming. From Delaware Water Gap, head to nearby Stroudsburg, the last stop on the tour. Equal parts historic and bohemian, the town brims with wineries, breweries, and a distillery, and there’s plenty for pint-size travelers to do too. The Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm is a 19th-century Pennsylvania German farmstead, where activities include cheese-making, barn-dancing, and family-friendly festivals year-round.

let's discover together
Since 1995, this Italian restaurant has been “a shrine to the divine,” according to Dahl. Word is definitely getting out: Dahl & Di Luca’s wine list has won national awards for 15 consecutive years, and in 2023, the fine-dining spot swooned so many diners that it was rated one of the top 100 most romantic restaurants in America by OpenTable. Delicate, soulful, and sophisticated all at once, dishes like arancini and the aptly-named Lisa’s Luscious Lasagna will make you feel like you’re sharing a date night in the Mediterranean.
COOKING BECAME A LIFELINE for Lisa Dahl after the loss of her son, Justin, in 1994. “As I started my life over, I followed the passion of what we loved to do together: cook and eat,” reveals Dahl, who used to work in the fashion industry and is now a lauded and award-winning self-taught chef. “Today, in my six restaurants, you will see dishes dedicated to Justin. It keeps my spirits lifted.” It’s not always easy having so much on her plate, but with family and heart at the soul of her businesses, Dahl feels lucky to welcome guests into her six homes away from home; “People say that they can taste the love in my food. That’s the gift that just keeps on giving.” Here’s a primer to each of her Sedona treasures:
For Award-Winning Wine Pairings:
MUST ORDER ITEM: Siciliana Cozze, mussels in a tomato-basil bisque that’s practically begging to be sopped up with the focaccia served on the side. Try the server’s suggested wine pairing, of course.
MUST ORDER ITEMS: Start with Rustic Bruschetta — wood-fired focaccia overflowing with tomatoes, basil, and garlic — then dive into a generous bowl of Lisa’s signature Pappardelle Bolognese.
Although she’s not Italian herself, Dahl personally adores Italian culture and cuisine, so you’ll see it highlighted here too. Step inside Cucina Rustica and “you will truly feel as if you’re entering an Italian villa,” Dahl explains. Rustic, cozy fare like eggplant Parmigiana, four-cheese ravioli, and beef meatballs in porcini cream sauce are the epitome of Italian Mediterranean comfort food — right in the heart of the American Southwest. Every plate stars locally sourced ingredients from in and around Sedona, including sustainably raised meats and fresh organic produce.
For Tastes of Tuscany:
MUST ORDER ITEM: The Gringo Burger, which comes topped with aged cheddar, remoulade sauce, shredded romaine, and crispy onion strings.
As a nod to Dahl’s previous career in — and continued passion for — fashion, she brands this as a couture burger bar, meaning these are not your basic bun and patty combos. Toppings include truffle Gouda cheese, bourbon-maple caramelized onions, and grilled pineapple. Butterfly has so much more than burgers, though. Fans rave about the robust organic salads (Green Goddess Cobb), creative sides and snacks (Mahi Mahi Lettuce Tacos), and gourmet shakes that can be enjoyed as-is or spiked.
For Gourmet Comfort:
MUST ORDER ITEMS: Pulpo Parrilla, grilled Spanish octopus with garbanzo puree, fennel slaw, and olive tapenade, plus a citrusy Caipirinha to wash it down.
This Latin-inspired wood-fire grill steals the show on two fronts: sweeping views of Sedona’s red rocks (which you can savor from every seat in the house), and stunning flavor-forward fare. Regardless of your reason for visiting, you won’t be disappointed by the colorful cuisine. When developing new dishes for Mariposa’s menu, Dahl keeps in mind that “the food must be bold to match the strong forces of Sedona’s landscapes and the architecture.”
For Fine Dining with a View:
MUST ORDER ITEM: Spice things up with a 14-inch Au Savage pie, topped with Mother Sauce marinara, Calabrese sausage, picante peppers, prosciutto di Parma, spicy coppa, soppressata salami, provolone, and mozzarella.
With locations in both West Sedona and Village of Oak Creek (two Sedona neighborhoods), Pisa Lisa features menu items named after Dahl’s parents. “Eating pizza together was one of their favorite date-night activities, and although they’ve passed away, I like to think they’d be enjoying my pizzas at Pisa Lisa the same way,” she says. Expect a “very tongue-in-cheek feel” courtesy of the music, posters, and art, which you can savor as you feast your way through tapas, white and red pizzas, gelato, and more.
For Wood-Fired Perfection:
Book your Sedona resort or hotel through RCI to score exclusive discounts. Translation: You can put that extra cash to good use to splurge on an extra dinner out!
let's go!
While a party vibe pulses with tunes at 13 pools, younger rock stars get their kicks at an indoor trampoline zone and elaborate playground with structures for climbing, crawling, and sliding. It’s all part of the Hard Rock Roxity Kids Club, which also boasts an interactive dance area, gaming systems, and a lounge for teens. There’s no doubt that music is at the core of this resort. Adults live out their rock star dreams by signing up for the Jam Band, where you can play one of four instruments or be the lead singer in a rock band. A “rock specialist” guides you through rehearsals before you perform in front of a live audience. The music is great, but you’re probably here for the beach too. Water sports, beach volleyball, and other coastal activities could keep you busy for a week, and they’re all included in your stay. You’ll also have access to nine restaurants, including food halls that offer a variety of cuisines, Italian pizzerias, and a restaurant that specializes in Brazilian-style dishes. When cravings hit, poolside snacks and 24/7 room service are yours for the taking. Thrill-seekers can head to Rockaway Bay Water Park, where splashy thrills and waterslides keep the fun on full blast. Gamers find paradise in the virtual reality arena or opt for a round of laser tag or Escapology, where you have to crack codes to “escape” different theme rooms. For parents seeking an escape of their own, there’s also a luxurious spa.
For whimsical family fun with a side of slime, this is your jam. First stop: Nickelodeon Place, the hot spot for all-day play that includes the Aqua Nick water park, Character Central, and Club Nick, where you can expect to get slimed, dance your heart out, and enjoy immersive theater experiences. Slides, splash pads, and lazy rivers provide plenty of action as Nickelodeon characters mingle with guests. For special events and performances by local artists and musicians, swing by Plaza Orange and take it all in under the Caribbean sun. Far from basic, accommodations include Nick-themed rooms and unique swim-up suites with pools just outside your door. For a family splurge, stay at the roomy Pineapple Villa inspired by the undersea home of SpongeBob SquarePants. Wherever you stay, don’t sleep on the Zest Character Dining Experience, where you can dine with your favorite Nickelodeon friends in your PJs. Beyond breakfast, an array of inclusive gourmet restaurants includes a spaceship-turned-restaurant called the Spacewalker, Wok Wok for far Eastern flavors, a burger joint, and more.
Set on a remote beach, this tropical oasis invites families to do as much — or as little — as they want. Take a break from the heat in your choice of five swimming pools, float the afternoon away in the lazy river, or head to the water park for slides of all sizes. A kids’ club and teens’ club provide age-appropriate activities when parents want to sneak away to the luxe spa, sip a cocktail, or lounge on the sugar-sand beach. When you’re ready for more action, have your pick of water sports or learn to cha-cha at a dance lesson. With themed beach parties, evenings are all about live entertainment, so there’s never a dull moment — unless, of course, you want one. Casual dining options include the Barefoot Grill and a buffet serving a variety of international cuisine. There’s also a taco truck for child-approved bites by the beach or pool. For special celebrations, a French brasserie, an elegant steakhouse, and a Mediterranean restaurant where you can dine à la carte provide delicious options, many with gorgeous views of the sea. For an extra touch of glam, preferred rooms come with elevated concierge service to assist with dining reservations (and anything else you need), and swim-up rooms keep the waterside fun at your doorstep.
KNOWN AS A VALUE DESTINATION with dozens of all-inclusive resorts, Punta Cana is one slice of paradise that has something for everyone. “While the Dominican Republic is thought of as a package deal type of destination, it’s worth looking deeper and getting to know its many nooks and crannies,” says Charlotte Castillo, a frequent traveler to the Dominican Republic with family roots on the island. “From the gorgeous beaches to the wonderfully refreshing rivers at every turn, and from adventure hikes to hidden waterfalls and historically significant cultural sites, there is so much to see and do.” Families flock to Punta Cana for the wide array of all-ages experiences available at many of the island’s all-inclusive resorts. Unlimited food offerings make it easy for even the pickiest eaters to find something they love, and the bevy of beaches, water parks, and kids' clubs keep the little ones splashing and smiling. Here are three of the best family-friendly, all-inclusive experiences to be found in Punta Cana. The only hard part is choosing which one to visit first.
3 More Must-Dos in Punta Cana
Sail away on a glass-bottomed catamaran to Marinarium Parks, an open-water aquarium where you can go snorkeling, swimming, or simply relax under the Caribbean sun. You’ll see nurse sharks, stingrays, and colorful fish as you splash and swim in waist-deep natural pools. Most tours include drinks plus hotel pick-ups and drop-offs.
Hop on a speedboat or catamaran to the most important protected biosphere in the Dominican Republic: Saona Island. Besides being home to one of the most beautiful white-sand beaches in the world, you’ll swim in a natural pool and indulge in a Dominican buffet lunch.
Scape Park at Cap Cana is an eco-adventure park that immerses visitors in the natural wonders of the Dominican Republic. Go ziplining, swim in an underground spring, and explore caves and waterfalls.
Questions to Ask when Choosing All-Inclusive Resorts
How many restaurants are there and what type of food and drink is included? Which activities will I have access to? Do any activities and restaurants require advanced reservations and separate fees? If the resort is open to children, what special activities do you have for them? Is airport transfer included? Are tips included as part of the package?
Benefits Of All-Inclusive Resort Vacations
You’ll save money and minimize stress as most meals, snacks, drinks, and activities are covered, including live entertainment, kids’ camps, and beachside loungers. You’ll save time because you won’t have to research the when, where, and how of every activity and meal. Just decide what you want to do, and do it! You’ll have the chance to try something new. Surfing, paddleboarding, and other activities that pique your curiosity are generally available to you for free. You’ll have plenty of options. No two people like to vacation the same way. Whether you want to spread out or do things together, there’s no shortage of choices that can be tailored to your preferences. Food and drinks are a no-brainer, day or night. In addition to having access to a variety of restaurants, many all-inclusive resorts offer 24/7 room service, poolside drinks and snacks, and even fully stocked minibars.

With down-home traditions and crowd-pleasing attractions in its DNA, Nashville can host the mother of all family reunions. Start with lodgings that keep your kin comfy and close to activities — like Club Wyndham Nashville, a resort just a mile from the Grand Ole Opry. Roomy condo suites feature charming country decor and in-unit washers and dryers, plus families can enjoy pools, patio areas, and play spaces. It wouldn’t be a family reunion without a big meal or two. Von Elrod’s Beer Hall & Kitchen in Germantown handles large groups with ease, thanks to huge indoor and outdoor spaces with communal tables. House-made sausage and tangy Southern barbecue anchor the menu, and parties of 25 to 50 can reserve a group dining experience online. Or take the family on a culinary tour of town with Dabble Tours & Events or Walk Eat Nashville. Once everyone’s well fed, get out and about. Centennial Park, a 132-acre greenspace, is wonderful for family outings. It offers a walking trail, lake, art center, volleyball courts, and free concerts. Nashville Zoo at Grassmere is another good spot for multiple generations to explore. The zoo holds more than 3,000 creatures, and kids love the giant Jungle Gym playground. And don’t leave Nashville without getting a taste of the honky-tonks, including legendary Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, where bands perform on three levels amid a fun atmosphere. When couples tie the knot, they hope it’s a perfect match — like Nashville and bachelor/bachelorette parties. The city is popular for flings before rings, thanks mostly to Broadway, where bright lights and music beckon bridal bar-hoppers to clubs like Miranda Lambert’s Casa Rosa, Rippy’s Honky Tonk, The Stage on Broadway, and Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row. Nightlife isn’t conducive to breakfast, though, so bridal brunches are big at hip eateries such as Henrietta Red, Liberty Common, and Milk & Honey. Come dinnertime, prenup parties can splurge on fare from star chefs Sean Brock (Audrey and June), Andrew Carmellini (The Dutch and Carne Marne), Maneet Chauhan (Chauhan Ale and Masala House), Tony Mantuano (Yolan), and Tandy Wilson (City House). Bachelor(ette) blowouts also call for spirited games and adventures. Let’s Roam sends groups on urban scavenger hunts, Bad Axe Throwing tests aim and arms, and The Adventure Park at Nashville launches you on ziplines. Board the Pontoon Saloon for a Cumberland River cruise with booze or The Big Drag Bus for a lip-synching, day-drinking tour with drag queen guides. If that doesn't generate enough photo ops, strike a pose at John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge and other selfie spots. Dozens of murals beckon as pic backdrops too. Check out LoveShackFancy, Blue & White Wall, and I Believe in Nashville, all in the 12 South neighborhood. Nashville is best-in-class for besties, offering a variety of ways for you and a few friends to kick back and cut loose. Plan your itinerary around the city’s strengths, starting with music. Take your band on a tour of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, scoot boots at a host of honky-tonks on Broadway, and go backstage at historic Ryman Auditorium, the former home of the Grand Ole Opry. But it’s not all country: There are live music spots for blues, pop, rock, gospel, and classical too. Another Nashville forte is food, especially hot chicken — crispy and spicy pieces served with pickles and bread. Score some angry bird at places like Hattie B’s Hot Chicken and Prince’s Hot Chicken. Your crew should also try the local biscuits and gravy, barbecue, and fried catfish. If your mates have an appetite for history, it runs deep in Nashville, including at the Tennessee State Museum, the Tennessee State Capitol, the Hermitage (President Andrew Jackson’s home), and a full-size replica of The Parthenon from ancient Greece. Belle Meade Historic Site & Winery, a Greek Revival-style property from the 1800s, offers tours and tastings.
When couples tie the knot, they hope it’s a perfect match — like Nashville and bachelor/ bachelorette parties. Nightlife isn’t conducive to breakfast, though, so bridal brunches are big at hip eateries such as Henrietta Red, Liberty Common, and Milk & Honey.

itinerary
Fuel up with a hearty breakfast at one of the property’s restaurants. Try the Campfire Grill, a casual eatery with mountain vistas. Then gear up for an exhilarating ride at the resort’s Massanutten Bike Park. A lift to the top means you can conquer downhill thrills without strenuous climbs. The park's well-designed trails deliver thrills for beginners, intermediate riders, and veteran cyclists. And with a recent upgrade to its lift service, riders can enjoy more laps and shorter lift rides.
Ready to unwind? Indulge in an on-site treatment (try the Massanutten Signature Massage for couples) at The Spa at Massanutten. Afterwards, head into the historic downtown of Lexington. Here, you can grab lunch at one of the quaint restaurants, such as The Red Hen (the town’s first farm-to-table restaurant) or Brew Ridge Taps (a local tap house and eatery specializing in salads, wraps, and Wafflewiches). Stroll the redbrick streets as you peruse art galleries, jewelers, bookstores, boutiques, and antique shops dotting the area.
For a romantic evening, visit CrossKeys Vineyards — a family-owned estate winery in Crawford. The 125-acre vineyard offers behind-the-scenes tours followed by private tastings in the Wine Library. Cap off the day with an intimate dinner at the on-site Bistro, dishing a seasonal menu with an always-gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains backdrop.

AFTERNOON
EVENING
Grab breakfast at one of Massanutten Resort’s restaurants, then hit the links at one of the resort’s two renowned golf courses. At Mountain Greens Golf Course, the tree-lined fairways and steeply terraced tees provide a topographical challenge for golfers looking to master tight angles and fairway speed. At the base of the mountain sits Woodstone Meadows Golf Course, featuring open fairways and sloping greens — perfect for both novices and seasoned experts.
If you didn’t think it was possible to fall in love with a road, be warned that the 105-mile Skyline Drive may cast a spell on you. The scenic roadway gently weaves through the Blue Ridge Mountains as the only public road through Shenandoah National Park. With dozens of overlooks, plan for many pit stops and panoramic photo moments along the way. You’ll find dining options roughly every 25 miles. Consider stopping at Skyland or Big Meadows Lodge for a scenic lunch. The total trek takes about three hours — minus any stops — with a 35-mph speed limit that allows you to soak it all in.
afternoon
Wrap up the weekend with dinner and a live performance in Waynesboro. Wayne Theatre Ross Performing Arts Center regularly hosts comedy shows, live music, plays, classic films, and lectures. Grab dinner before or after the show at nearby favorites like Heritage on Main (for steaks, wings, and seafood) or Benny Stivale’s (for enormous slices of pizza and a tucked-away beer garden).

What can I do with my Points/Weeks that are coming up for expiration?
When you find that your Points/Trading Power are nearing their expiration date, we offer a couple of friendly options to ensure they don't go to waste. Firstly, you can book a trip for a friend or family member, extending the joy of vacation to your loved ones. Alternatively, you can plan a quick getaway, even if it's just for a few days, to make the most of your vacation opportunities. However, if you still find yourself unable to use them before the expiration date, there's no need to fret. You have the option to extend your Points/Trading Power for an additional year, providing yourself with a bit more time to plan and look forward to your next memorable adventure in the coming year.
Last Call vacations and Extra Vacations getaways are fantastic options for securing accommodations without the need for Trading Power or Points. Last Call allows you to begin searching for inventory 2-45 days prior to your desired check-in date. This feature is perfect for those spontaneous, last-minute getaways. On the other hand, Extra Vacations provides access to rental inventory at resorts and hotels at incredibly affordable prices. The pricing for Extra Vacations can vary, and you can search up to 2-18 months ahead of your intended check-in date. Whether you have weeks or points remaining in your account or not, you can book these options. It's yet another avenue to make your dream vacation a reality.
What is the difference between Last Call and Extra Vacations?
Timeshare Exchange: Imagine swapping your timeshare for a vacation stay at one of our numerous RCI affiliate resorts worldwide. It's like unlocking a world of vacation possibilities! Hotel Discounts: You can use your Points/Trading Power to score some exciting deals on hotel stays. It adds a dash of flexibility to your travel plans. Cruise Adventures: Dreaming of a cruise? Well, your Points/Trading Power can make that dream a reality by offsetting some of the cruise expenses. Exchange Plus: And here's the icing on the cake - your Points/Trading Power aren't just for traditional timeshare exchanges. You can also use them for Exchange Plus locations, which is our Points/Trading Power plus cash option. This opens even more possibilities for how you can make the most of your investment.
What are all the ways I can use my Trading Power/Points?
When booking a trip, the first thing I always suggest is adding Trading Power/Points protection. It's like having a trustworthy safety net for your vacation plans. With this protection in place, you'll have peace of mind knowing that if unexpected events occur, you can simply cancel your trip and retrieve your Trading Power/Points in full. But here's another great option: even if you can't embark on your trip, you can still bring smiles to the faces of your friends or family by sending them on their dream vacation — and it only requires a nominal guest certificate fee. It's a win-win situation all around!
What happens if I book my trip and my plans change unexpectedly?
There are several compelling advantages to booking an all-inclusive resort, but perhaps the most significant one is the unparalleled "peace of mind" it offers. With an all-inclusive resort, you can effortlessly anticipate your expenses for the duration of your stay. When it comes to dining, you have the luxury of exploring the entire menu without hesitation – you can even savor your favorite dishes twice if you so desire. As for libations, you'll find that at an all-inclusive resort, every hour feels like a "happy hour." Your beverages, be it cocktails, soft drinks, juices, or refreshing water, are all thoughtfully included. With the financial details expertly taken care of, your only real concern will be choosing between poolside relaxation or beachfront bliss.
I’ve always considered booking an all-inclusive vacation. What are the benefits to booking one?

QUESTION 7
With a total metro area population of more than 5 million, Sydney bustles with tourists and locals enjoying a global arts and culinary scene. Opportunities to commune with nature also abound. Start your day admiring a wildflower meadow stretching across the land like a richly dyed quilt at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney. While entrance to the gardens — which feature paved paths accessible to wheelchairs and strollers — is free, you’ll be tempted to buy a coffee and flaky croissant from on-site Farm Cove Eatery. We encourage you to give in. Next, head to Bondi Beach, the start of the out-and-back Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk. The free trailway stretches 3.7 miles, threading the needle between ocean views and urban landmarks. Save enough energy to venture a few extra blocks to Lox Stock & Barrel for a to-go avocado bagel sandwich, best consumed while sitting on Bondi’s glittering gold sand. Linger at the beach, dipping in the water and drying off in the sun, before ending your day at the Beach Road Hotel. Every week, musical acts perform live shows in the upstairs courtyard at the open-to-the-public venue. Eat dinner at the on-site Road House Kitchen — the Chili Crab Linguine is a showstopper — and sip an espresso martini to cut the spice. Retire to nearby Club Wyndham Sydney when the caffeine boost ends.

WITH ITS BEACHSIDE RESORTS, nationally renowned restaurants, and an abundance of wildlife tours, Australia’s earned a reputation as a pricey vacation destination. Luckily for travelers on a budget, that doesn’t have to be the case thanks to free outdoor adventures, affordable galleries, and price-conscious eateries with less fame but just as much flavor.

Currumbin Rock Pools
Don’t let the Gold Coast moniker or the name of your hotel — Montego Sands Resort — fool you: The rainforest beckons. For breakfast, order eggs fried in red pesto and blanketed in salty pecorino cheese at Dust Temple. After perusing the on-site gallery, take a short road trip inland through the Currumbin Valley. The drive passes lush rainforest groves and a free swimming hole known as the Currumbin Rock Pools. Join jubilant locals in leaping from the low crags into the clear water to cool down. Drive back to the coast for lunch at Ze Pickle. Its massive sandwiches, such as the pineapple- and coriander-topped Baja Fish Taco Burger will keep you satiated through your late-afternoon adventure at Burleigh Head National Park. No entry fee is required to explore the protected lands featuring eucalyptus woodlands, rainforest, and groves of palm tree-esque pandanus. Walk the Rainforest Circuit, a 1.4-mile-long trail that carries guests to Tumgun Lookout, an ideal vantage point for spotting whales. Every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, the open-air Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets open from 4 to 9 p.m. Peruse jewelry, decor, and other artisanal goods while pausing to watch creators at work. Parking and entry don’t require payment, leaving you extra room in your budget to purchase a souvenir and savor a street-food dinner at one of the stalls.

Salamander bay
A small town situated on a peninsula, Salamander Bay takes full advantage of the ocean’s three-sided embrace. Enjoy a quick breakfast of toasties — similar to a grilled cheese sandwich — and spiced chai-infused Dirty Hippie coffee at Nice Cafe at Nelson Bay. Take a mid-morning dip at Fly Point park. Tropical fish swim among sponge and kelp gardens at the protected aquatic ecosystem, joined by divers attracted to the clear waters. Next, dive deep on seafaring history on the Mariners Walk Heritage Trail, where informative signs commemorate maritime history. After considering both the ocean habitat and history, you’ll appreciate the fresh seafood served up at Little Mavs, a waterfront eatery at the d’Albora Marinas Nelson Bay. Get the Fisherman’s Pack to go and wander the docks, munching on battered fish and calamari. Unwind with a free soak at Boat Harbour, locally known as the Champagne Spa because ocean waves kick up bubbles in the rock pools. As long as the surf doesn’t grow too rough, continue your fizzy bath as the sun takes a dive of its own into the horizon. Dine on Fresh Mussels Mariniere, mopping up the white wine butter sauce with garlic bread, at Sandpipers Restaurant before retiring to Oaks Pacific Blue Resort.
Dive Deep
In many cities, fine art stays tucked away inside expensive galleries. Melbourne eschews that trend. After breaking your fast at Corner & Bench with the Eggs Atlantic and coffee, admire a host of free exhibits at the National Gallery of Victoria. Work in a slight detour as you travel to your next location: Stroll across the Yarra River and along Hosier Lane. Kaleidoscopic graffiti from amateurs and pros coats building exteriors lining the cobblestone road. It’s fitting that colorful Hosier Lane sits so close to Blindside, your next gratis gallery destination. The artist-run gallery welcomes up-and-coming creatives who focus on contemporary works, including art films, recordings, and other multimedia formats. When you’re ready for art on a plate, grab a late lunch at Chin Chin. The images plastering the walls make the beloved Southeast Asian restaurant a gallery unto itself, and the layered flavors in the curries show off creative culinary flair. After dropping off leftovers (your midnight snack) at Club Wyndham Melbourne, continue your culture tour at Lido, a cinema-stage hybrid that hosts inexpensive comedy shows on Tuesday evenings. For a nightcap, order an Aperol grapefruit spritz at the Lido on the Roof cocktail bar.
