Data is the foundation of any good project. We use several traditional data collection methods to gather data points that help paint a picture of the world around us. Good data is vital to the DigitalPlus process.
Our Unmanned Aerial Systems services, commonly referred to as Drones, pairs leading technology with pilots, surveyors and engineers to support our client’s goals and visions. Drone services are incredibly valuable to the future of civil engineering projects. Our end product is much more than a pretty picture. Through visuals, we share the story, progression and transformation of the projects that shape our lives while gathering important data and resources.

Capablities
ContextCapture
Drones
We use a data collection principle called Photogrammetry, which is taking 100s or even 1000s of photos from various angles and vantages points and building depth. This process is like how human eyes use their different angles to create depth perception. ContextCapture takes all the photos, and the geospatial data from the drone and processes millions of matching points in the photos. We also tie this to surveyed ground control points to increase geospatial accuracy. We use ContextCapture to make a digital twin of a building or collect elevations from an open field.
Thermal data can also be collected Works seamlessly with visualization tools, including HoloLens Data can be collected in many ways, but drones are the most common

3D modeling allows us to design the project while providing a complete picture of the final product. 3D design significantly improves project outcomes. Through 3D design, we create opportunities for enhanced communication with agencies and public stakeholders, regardless of technical level. The models also allow our team to review the design for quality through the design cycles, while automating clash detection and identifying site impacts. In addition, the data used to develop a 3D model serves as the foundation for an Automated Machine Guidance system.

4D/5D
4D/5D modeling improves accuracy and efficiency. 4D adds time-related information to 3D models and 5D adds a cost component. The true power of 4D/5D lies in the way the model can be used during preliminary design, final design and throughout construction. 4D/5D modeling is much more than an animation. The level of detail in a 4D/5D model is fully customizable and provides accurate, detailed information through every step of a project process.

Asset Management is the collection of an agency’s infrastructure assets. It also includes a plan for managing these assets over the infrastructure’s lifespan. Understanding how each asset is identified and classified during the design process helps to characterize its needs throughout each asset’s lifecycle. By creating a digital twin, an owner, contractor, or agency can manage their assets virtually and accurately.

Digital delivery aids utility coordination by translating utility information into a 3D environment that can be compared with the design to identify and mitigate conflicts. Utility information is gathered and implemented into a 3D environment through a Subsurface Utility Engineering investigation. The data is then compared to the proposed design by using Clash Detection tools to identify conflicts. This information is shared with project team members, clients, and utility companies through an easily accessible web-based application.

Real-time 3D visualization has completely transformed site-specific review and public engagement tools to efficiently educate the audience, regardless of their background, location, and previous project knowledge. The engineering industry has been transformed into an active participation forum that ensures efficient parcel-specific stakeholder engagement, regardless of corridor size. At the same time, designs and subsequent schematic documentation have become increasingly complex, creating a further divide between engineers, internal staff, and the public. Real-time site 3D visualization goals are location independent, and when used early in the process, offer the ability to focus on one parcel and/or an entire project corridor, and include all preferred design alternatives.
This tech delivers high-quality engineering services with great efficiency, helping us better understand the causes of congestion and roadway improvements. Using advanced traffic simulation software, we build computer models that replicate existing conditions in a simulated environment.

Trip Data
Simulation
Using data to inform
Trip origin-destination (O-D) data provides information about travel patterns within the study area and is one of the most fundamental traffic input data. A trip survey is important in project planning but can be expensive and time-consuming for large sample sizes. Instead, we use big data and historical mobility to track movements.
